    DTM Vs. non DTM

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Trying to gather as much info as possible on a forthcoming S4 purchase. I have searched with no clear answer on what the exact differences are between a non DTM S4 and a DTM S4. I dont even know what DTM is other than some kind of race.
It seams as if the DTM version is a little harder to find and therefore desirable?
What years were the DTM versions offered..ECT.... Looking for a litle info..
    Thanx

DTM for Audi is sort of like Carlsson for Mercedes. Its a tuning company. the DTM s4 has different rear and front bumpers as well as a different spoiler and different wheels and quad tip exhaust. i am pretty sure the performance is the same

    Re: DTM Vs. non DTM

DTM is a German Touring car racing series...

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deutsch...nwagen_Masters

I believe there was a DTM package offered for 2007 S4, it's just an aero package, I don't believe there was any performance changes. They look similar, if not the same as the 25quattro version of the S4.

The DTM version first made available on the 2005 A4 2.0. The DTM A4 did have some performance tweaking but I do not believe the S4 did, just the body kit basically.

The 2007 Audi S4 is available as a sedan, wagon ("Avant") or convertible ("Cabriolet") in one well-equipped trim level. Standard features include 18-inch wheels and tires, sunroof, xenon HID headlights, 12-way power-adjustable Recaro seats, Silk napa leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated mirrors and a 10-speaker audio system with an in-dash CD changer. The updated-for-'07 Cabriolet is equipped with more conventional leather-upholstered sport seats in place of the Recaros, along with a power-operated "Acoustic" soft top that promises a quieter cabin, especially at freeway speeds. Options for the S4 include an upgraded 215-watt Bose stereo, a navigation system and, for the sedan only, a "DTM" exterior package, which adds unique front and rear fascias, multispoke wheels and carbon-fiber spoilers.

    DTM package

    Non DTM

    Only difference is appearance.

2006 Special edition 25 quattro (Only 250 made)
Again, differences are in appearance only.

    Re: DTM Vs. non DTM

The 25th anniversary cars were built by quattro GmbH in Neckarsulm Germany where they build the RS4, RS6, and R8s. They have a VIN that starts with WUA instead of the normal WAU for Audi. The 'DTM package' for the standard S4 is just different bumpers hung on the car, with a rear bumper that was modified to fit a quad-tip exhaust.

The 25th anniversary edition S4 is unique and has a special hand-made exhaust system with a different sound to it than other S4s. quattro GmbH did that so they could use the original A4 DTM bumper which has outlets for single tips. The 25th anniversary cars all came in Avus Silver and have special interiors as well.

    Re: DTM Vs. non DTM

Are we talking about the 25th Anniv. here? or just the body kit? Because if its the 25th anniversary S4 the OP is specifically referring to, there is a performance difference.

    What is the performance difference?

Correct me if m wrong, but IIRC, the 25th is the second Audi after the B7 RS4 to be fitted with the latest Torsen T-3 asymmetric center differential for its quattro permanent four-wheel drive system. Under 'normal' grip conditions, this is set with a 'default' rearwards torque distribution bias of 40:60 front to rear, and a maximum of 100% torque can automatically be apportioned to the rear axle (and up to 80% to the front) as conditions warrant. The regular MATIC s4s have the 50:50 torque distribution bias.

Ahh, word for word from Wikipedia.
    The 2008 s4's have the same T-3.

    Re: DTM Vs. non DTM

i think the post is about the S4 with the Sport package. It looks like the DTM A4, but I don't think it's called DTM is it?

Anyway 25Quattro is a little different...a few performance upgrades (minor ones) and the main difference is that every 25Quattro (2006 only; Avus Silver only) has EVERY SINGLE AVAILABLE OPTION. It also has 25Quattro seats, badging, shiftknob and wheels (that look just like the A4 titanium package wheels)

further performance improvement...RS4 sway bar I think.

    Re: DTM Vs. non DTM

Really the only difference in these cars is the body kit (other than the 25Quattro which is different in itself and not really in performance other than custom exhaust really). The "Quattro gmbh body kit" as it's actually called was an added option in 2007; thus the lack of "DTM" S4s. We call it the "DTM Package" because that's what they called the A4 with the body kit, and DTM is the race that Quattro gmbh builds for (and it's shorter, haha). And good luck finding a manual S4 DTM, not very many out there, took me AWHILE to find the one I wanted...but I couldn't be happier

    manny only, I believe

It took me a while just to find an S4 in manual to test drive in LA...I ordered my S4 with the DTM pkg last October. I got exactly what I wanted.

I can post sound clips if anyone wants to post sound clips of a stock S4.

Note that the 25quattro is a dual exhaust and the S4 is a quad:

Also, the wheels are exactly the same as the A4 Ti wheels, but silver. A4 Ti wheels are the "titanium" grey.

yeah, that's for sure...B7 sounds better than B6. Both sound great though.

funny, I was driving my friend's B6 and he was in my B7 in front of me. I loved hearing my own car. We were in the country, and REALLY letting the cars out. I went in front of him so he could hear his exhaust for a bit. We hit a gravel road, and I gunned it. Despite Quattro, a bunch of rocks flew. I was laughing at the gravel shower I was giving him...till I remembered he was in my car!
