    Wheel Refinishers of MD

Anyone have any experience with Wheel Refinishers of MD? Linky: http://www.wheelrefinisher.com/

I've been considering having my LM Reps refinished, and possibly painting the centers gold w/polished lips and wanted to get some input. I know of Ye Olde Wheel shop in Elkridge *edit*, but i can't get a hold of them and from what i've read, they are "backed up" with work and jobs usually take 2 months.

The nice thing about WR is that they will pick-up/drop-off at your house, and they have a Rockville location which isn't too far from me. Reviews seem to be positive, and cost seems modest for the work i need done (no official quote, but i've read that my job may cost me around $500)

no experience with them, but the pick up and drop off sounds nice.

Ye Olde Wheel Shop did my one lip in a week. I think it all depends on when you go in, but obviously yours would take more time than mine.

Ok I just got off the phone with a friend I think he is on here not sure. he had his wheels fixed there. They put the wrong tires on his wheels then they didn't seal the wheels so 3 leaked. Then they sent a truck and trailer to get his car and smashed his front bumper they fixed the wheels again. He went picked up the car and went to bed woke up the next day and flat tire. Took it somewhere else they said the wheel is cracked and bent from mounting.

yeold wheel shop is in elkridge, an they are so overpriced. they will charge a couple hundred per wheel. they wanted 300 something for each of my avus's. if that place quoted u 500 total go with that its a good price.

Really depends as to what extent the damage is. I've had good experiences with Ye Old Wheel Shop. Fair price for quality work. They do tend to take a while, but if it's a summer set of wheels, that shouldn't be an issue if you get them there over the winter.

    Re: Wheel Refinishers of MD

My personal experience with them (In order):

Week 1: Dropped my car off to get my HRE's painted.
Week 2: Was told car was completed and to pick it up. (I live 2 hours away, by the way.) I arrive, only to find out my car is on a jack and they can't get the last wheel on. I have (2) 255 and (2) 235 tires, I noticed they mismatched a 235 in the front/rear--so of course the 255 wouldn't fit in the front now. They also lost one wheel lock, making me run 4 of 5 lugs on one wheel. They told me to come back in a week.
Week 3: I pick up my car--all seems good. I get home and sleep. Morning time comes and I have 2 flat tires. I fill it up and take it to my local tire shop. They found it leaking through the bolts because of improper sealment. I called them and they offered to trailer my car to the shop. Trailer arrives and the driver behind the wheel of my car scrapes it going onto the trailer. He reverses it fast and pulls my bumper from the bottom, because now it caught on the way down and caused stress cracks all over the center of my bumper (Near and close to my liscence plate). Cracks are very noticable and my bumper is now deformed on the bottom. They picked it up on a Monday and promised to deliver the car by Friday morning. (I stressed I needed it by Friday morning bc I had work Fri-Sun and this was my only car)
Week 4: They call me Friday morning and asked "Where my wheel lock key was" Basically telling me "Hey, we haven't even started on your car!" I asked them what happened to delivering the car before Friday because I needed to work and they said "Life isn't fair"
Week 5: They deny trailering my car back to me (This was the original plan too), and force me to pick it up. I was going to arrive at night time and wanting to save a headache, I asked: 'Can you leave my car in the garage with ample lighting, so I can make sure everything is ok before taking off?' They denied me of that as well. They told me my car would be waiting outside with the key in the car. Outraged--I told him this was ridiculous, however they offered to pay me $25.00 in gas money. When I was getting close, I called them and they told me they couldn't pay me the money then--that they would 'mail me a check'...yeah sure--talk about shady. I picked up my car anyways but I felt shaking on my suspension/steering wheel that I didn't feel before dropping my car off. I called 3 times and no one answered, so I left a message. I then got home and went to sleep. Morning comes and I have a flat tire, I filled it up and took it to my local tire shop again. They told me they found a crack on the inner lip and it was mysteriously bent outwards as opposed to being bent inwards. This let me know that it couldn't have been caused by my driving, because a pothole or curb would have bent it in. I had to fix my car so I sent my wheel to be welded @ Yih Olde Wheel shop and was charged $190 for a 2 day express job. I emailed them and called Wheel Refinishers concerning my losses only to get nothing but a reply saying 'Seek legal advice'.

    Recap of my mess:

-5 Weeks of bullshit for a 1 week job.
-3 trips there and back, only to find out something new was wrong everytime.
-Improperly sealed wheels causing 2 tires to go flat.
-They lost one of my wheel locks, forcing me to run 4 out of 5 lugs on one wheel.
-Pulled/deformed bumper and stress cracks: 5 in total (4-6Inches wide). I might need a new bumper and have it resprayed.
-Crack on inner lip of 1 wheel. Note: Wheel was bent outward instead of inward. Proving it was caused by them.
-Denial of my $25 gas money, as previously promised by the manager.
-Loss of work for 3 days, because I didn't have my car--although I was promised to have it before I had to work.
-Denial of responsibility for any of this with a reply of 'Seek legal advice'

At this point, I don't know what to do. They won't talk to me, so should I get a lawyer and take them to court?

3Mort4l - thanks for the feedback. Definitely sucks that you had to go through that. Not sure what you should do about legal action - sometimes it's better to cut your loses and run. You may spend more money persuing them with legal action than the cost of the job itself. Have you tried contacting the BBB?

B5 S-Line - where is your buddy located? Trying to find someone local to me (Mt. Airy), but if i have to, i'd be willing to travel if the job is going to be done right. Feel free to PM with his info, or post it up here

I'm going to try and talk to the owner about fixing this mess, if he refuses--I'm going to file a claim with the BBB and take him to court. Yeah, its going to be a hassle but I'm not going to pay the $800+ out of my pocket when they did all of this bullshit.

    Don't deal with them.

If you need it just powdercoated go to American Stripping Co in Manassas. I went there but my sportecs had a plastic coating that they couldnt get off but they have every color and they are about 600 for strip and powder. You might want to talk to them but stay away from WR

    Re: Wheel Refinishers of MD

Rodo.. you should write them a letter.

    Include this at the end:

I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau to file a formal complaint against the <insert Company name> for non-delivery of goods, unsatisfactory service, and unfulfilled contracts. Furthermore, I will be posting my experience at all car forum websites. Lastly, I plan to contact all local media with this story to expose the surprisingly low level of service the <insert Company name> offers to their customers. If you would like to rectify this situation and protect your reputation and brand, I strongly suggest <insert name of person you're dealing with> submit a formal apology in addition <what you want them to do>

I've found that this gets more attention than phone calls.

I know you had a bad experience but they were good to me man. Fixed some bends/rash and powder coated my wheels. Also when Mr. Tire scratched my wheel Wheel Refinishers were the ones to fix/re-powder coat it and it came back in primo condition.

+1 for Ye Olde Wheel. I took one of my NSX wheels there, very good work. My other NSX buddy took his full set of HRE up there to be refinished and now they look like new. Very busy shop, so wheels may take sometime to repair.
