am reception

So I have the typical problem of no AM reception because of the rear window tint.
How have any of you solved this?
ceramic tint?
additional antenna?

Would any of you happen to know a good shop in the Chicago area with experience working with ceramic tint?

am????? lol i forgot all about the radio so i never noticed such on my car but using another type of antenna may work out I know there is universal one that can be used that mounts to your windshield

cds are fine, but, drum n bass or techno @ 6am during my morrning commute is a lil unsetteling and there is nothing but bollocks played on the FM stations.

The tint on the rear was already on there when I bought it and its got a few bubbles, so either its been on there a while or a jackass installed it. So I thought I'd replace it with ceramic tint and kill two birds, ya know?

I've done some digging and the company is called HuperOptik. It's pricer than regular metallic tint and is supposedly harder to work with. So I'd like to find a shop that had experience working with it.

HuperOptik is nice stuff. Search some of the tint forums and check out the work that the installers post. You should be able to find one in Chicago. You can also E-Mail HuperOptik and they will tell you what dealers are in your area.

As for AM. Most every tint (even ceramic) contains metal which kills AM reception. An external antenna will help.

I can't believe I didn't think of that myself.

I have chill shit, love jazz and classical, but there are some interesting conversations on the am side of the radio in Chicago.

Believe me, talk radio is a nice transition from my personal life to the talking heads I work with.

btw, Hoffy, I like the painted fog light covers. I was thinking of doing the same or going with the inserts from LLTek.

Resurrecting an OLD thread.......BUT I need to know how this can be achieved? How and where to add an external antenna to boost AM reception - have window tint BUT still want AM reception for traffic radio.
