    Picking Up my B6 Tomorrow

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I've been eying the B6 for a while now and was able to find a 1.8t 03 at a good price at a local dealer. It has a little over 60k on the clock so it didn't qualify for CPO, but the salesman did say I could get an extended warranty if I wanted to. I have until tomorrow to decide, but reading on here I'm not sure if it'll really cover anything that warrants the added expense. If it won't cover the T/B change and I'll still have to do the regular servicing (brakes, coil pack, etc) is the warranty only going to cover things like the motor or tranny going (but not the clutch)? Would it cover the rear main seal for example? I know it depends n the terms of my specific agreement, just looking for people's experiences with the extended warranties.

I've had a few year history doing my own repairs on my VW's so that doesn't bother me, just want to make sure of what the best move is with respect to the warranty. Thanks

Re: Picking Up my B6 Tomorrow

Congrats on your new purchase. Personally I'd want to know exactly what it covered. It's probably not going to cover the clutch because it's considered normal wear and tear. I would buy it depending on the condition of the car. With an 03' and 60K on the clock, it's only had about 10K miles a year which is extremely low.
If it's not too much, you may want to pick it up just for peace of mind. Otherwise skip it and use the money for some mods.
Be sure to post some pics when you pick her up and congrats again!

Re: Picking Up my B6 Tomorrow

Mind wrenching? Wouldn't have had 5 VW's under my belt if I did..lol...

Yeah, I have to sit down with the finance dept as they try to sell me the world along with the car, will ask about the details of the warranty and what it covers. Car is pretty much mint in/out, drove spot on when I took it for a test drive. Like was mentioned the mileage is low for a vw/audi so that's not my worry. Would much rather put the money into my "Car Fund" for mods in the future, guess it depends what's covered and how much extra they'll want.

warranty's worth it and if you don't use it you can always get your money back .... that's one thing people don't realize

my extended warranty is going to expire in a year and i haven't used it so i just got 75% of my money back ... not bad paying $1000 for 2 years of peace of mind

Re: Picking Up my B6 Tomorrow

i bought the extended warranty and i am extremely happy i did... i have a 04 USP with 35k on it and my power steering rack went... 1100 for the part + 600 in labor and 100 for an alignment... all covered! the warranty almost paid for itself in one shot.

just an example... it wont cover everything, but its an audi, when things break, its $$$... like myself, it paid for itself.

if you dont buy it, you pay for the wear and tear parts out of pocket anyway... this way, if others things break you're covered. if you're buying an audi and are worried an extra 2-3 grand isnt worth it, than you probably shouldnt be buying an audi to begin with.

just my 2-cents, do with it what you want. good luck with your new audi!!

i bought mine through Wheelz, name sounds cheezy but they are awesome... my audi dealers said they were the easiest warranty company theyve dealt with. i paid $3K for 5 yr/90k miles

Re: Picking Up my B6 Tomorrow

Picked it up a couple of hours ago (took a nice long drive) and couldn't be happier. In the end I decided to get the warranty with Fidelis. Covers what I was worried about and made a minimal difference in my payments.
