2001 Avant Leather and water pump help

Need some help.... first posting here and hope that someone has had the same problem and had a good resolution. I now have a Stage 3 01 S4 Avant. Didn't want to spend the money but a frozen water pump made the decision for me.

Euro Code Tuning here in Torrance built it for me after my engine froze due to the water pump failure. Runs fantastic now and the cost to rebuild the car with all of the "goodies" was near the same as stock. Even added coil overs.

Now my water pump froze at 120K, but it was supposed to have been replaced at a local dealer at around 95K miles before my warranty expired when they did my timing belt. Anyone here have the concern that the dealer didn't do the water pump replacement as required. I caught my local servicing dealer not doing the required service on my 02 TT one time and think this was the case here as well when they were supposed to do the timing belt/pump replacement, but I have no proof. Any way to tell if it was replaced or has anyone else experience like this?

Also I have a problem with the leather seats..... One seat cover was replaced when a hard spot developed on the drivers side while under warranty. Thought the heaters burned it and my butt was getting a tad hot. Now the passenger side as well as the rear seat have these same hard crusty looking spots developing. Audi says there is nada hey can do. I am out of warranty by 22K now. My contention is that here is a problem with the leather and it should NOT do this.

Is this like our fated pixel rot we all have to live with and a problem that Audi refuses to correct even when it is an obvious defect? I have owned (2) 5000's, an 80, (3) UR's and (2) TT's.... and the leather never went bad. My Avant (his name is Fritz) is my keeper and wonder what the heck one can do if there is a defect or do I need to replace the interior at my expense? Thanks for your help here........

Re: 2001 Avant Leather and water pump help

The Pixel Issue can be fixed by Scree Name:DXC for $200 gets you a new screen installed or a $100 gets you the screen and if you are good with soldering you can diy.

Take some pictures of the leather seats and also post them in the Detailing forum, some of the guys may be able to provide some ideas. Might just be easier to find some replacements and swap them out.

The only way to maybe tell if the water pump was replaced is to pull the pump and check if the impeller, plastic is original and metal means its been replaced. Although this is not a sure fast rule.

Also, make sure you give Fritz a good rub on the dash and tell him that you love him even though he is a problem child.
