    Test-Pipe Install pics

So I spent 4 hours under the car putting in my test pipe last weekend. The bolts where frozen on the TP to Down pipe joint so I had to cut it at the exhaust sleeve (because the nuts where rusted through) pull out the whole assembly and saw off the bolts. Pretty much a 2 hour job became a 4 hour job because of rusted/frozen bolts. It is faster and I love the new sounds. And I got to learn a lot about the undercarriage

I have been thinking of doing this myself. I was just wondering if you had any trouble with the turbo to cat bolts? Thanks

Did you try any PB blaster on those bolts before you cut them?

i'm letting audi deal w/ those bolts while replacing my cat under warranty.

then when they do all the hard work, i'll think about a test pipe.

I heard that the bolts are such a PITA that it's worth the $100 or so of labor for a shop to do it for you. The problem is finding one that will. I don't have that problem here in LA though.

    Re: Test-Pipe Install pics

when we did it i was able to get the bolts off, but the car only had 26000 miles on it... so they werent to bad. my only problem was taking off the last bolt on the backside of the cat. i didnt have a long enough extention. so make sure u have that if u try it.

yeah.... that's why ive only got 4 bolts on my entire exhaust. (not counting the hangers) lol, no more frozen bolts to deal with.

i need to see the car sometime jared - when are you going stage 2 now? after a FMIC? or are you going to wait and do meth injection too?

btw, don't fret about that baby turbo -- i know where you can get a MUCH bigger one at a good price

Um, so I understand that the test pipe replaces the front catalytic converter? I don't mean to sound like a tree hugger, but that doesn't sound like a great idea overall. Plus, doesn't the ECM throw errors from the downstream emissions sensors?

You need to get anti-foulers or chipped so you dont throw a cel. Also the bolts are a bitch I used a saws-all and PB blaster.

lol, seems to me that people dont think about the environment, they just care about freeing up some more ponies.

    Re: Test-Pipe Install pics

My car has 100k on it so there weren't even bolts or nuts to really use. The cat to turbo bolts were a walk in the park. You need a breaking ratchet head and some extensions.

As for stage 2 I should probably get the FMIC first but technically I could do it tomorrow.

Luckily when I did mine, everything was easy... Probably because I got my car from Florida and it had never seen a winter to really cause a ton of rust

    Re: Test-Pipe Install pics

Take the cat and the Dp out as one piece, cut the bolts off well its sitting on the ground. Then bolt up TP, and reinstall, about 1.5 hours job, only extra step is having to remove the airbox, which take all of 15 minutes.
