    Re: Show me your 18's.

Thanks for the pics but really I'm looking for aftermarket rims.

Weight and price are concerns for me. Lightweight, strong rims are expensive and 18's are a bit cheaper and the cheaper tires don't hurt either.

18x8.5 BBS CH's on 225/40/18 BFGoodrich Super Sport's (sort of low-profile, meaty tires make 18's look too dinky IMO)

Dropped on Stasis SS Coilovers ..25.5" all around

    hope this helps

Not exactly lightweight, but this 18" looks bigger due its design (B7 S4 rims)

Nice to see a thread with 18s. It confirms to me that I will stay with 19s because 18s look way too small on the A4.

Some do, some don't. It's more about the tire size then anything else. I'm not willing to sacrifice practicality for looks.

    Re: Show me your 18's.

Yea, WXGuy said it right; the bottom two black A4's have a lot of tire on 'em (especially the guy from Mexico) so they'll look smaller. Don't forget, as your wheel size increases, so does the pricetag on the tires (and usually the longevity of those tires goes the opposite).

I had this problem back in high-school; I saved up all this money for some new 18's on my old car, and couldn't afford replacement tires when the ones they came w/ ran out at the time. Had to go back to stock wheels, which sucked!

Also, don't forget, if you get 19's, you should buy 5 instead of 4 because the spare will be a different diameter and F up the differential should you get a flat.

false - diameter 'should' be the same if you do the correct upsizing. That is why if you do the correct upsizing, fender gap will always be the same.

I got my 17's back on...man I can tell the difference. Such a compliant ride (but handling isn't as good compared to the PS2's).

Yea, I guess if you match the overall diameter of 19's w/ tires to 17's and tires, my mistake. I guess I can amend my statement to say make sure not to forget this factor.

Also, you're usually not rolling on the spare for very long, and as far as I've ever heard, it only messes with the differential over longer periods of time than you'd probably run the spare.

    Re: Show me your 18's.

it depends on if you are going for aesthetic appeal or performance for wheel size. It is definately debatable, but all the research and testing on wheel size that i have seen tends to lean for 18" wheels on most cars to deliver the lowest center of gravity, greatest performance. The GTI circuit car was actually dropped down to 17's in order to get an extra fraction of drop on the ride height, a maneuver that proved lethal to the competition.

Aesthetically, throw some chrome 28's on that with a 4.7"spacer and call it a day yo!

I'm not sure where practically plays a roll as my 19s on a DD doing 50 miles a day to and from work on a less than smooth highway averaging 70-80mph. No real issues for me so in my case, 19s are just as practical as 18s and look better.

Looks like a good size. I think that's the size I'm going to put on my OZ Wheels. Do you think there is too much sidewall, or do you like the way they looked?
