    LED DRL functionality

My wife and I happened to be coming home on the same road this afternoon and I noticed when I drove in front of her that everytime she signals left or right, the LED on that side would turn off until the signal is complete. Does anyone notice the same thing on their A4s?

    Re: LED DRL functionality

it makes it easier to see the turn signals.

Many chryslers products with DRLs do that also.

    yup, UGwagen's correct.

Imagine bright LED's overshine the important yellow flickering light!

    Re: LED DRL functionality

iirc some posted that this can be changed to be permanently on via vagcom... but this seems to be how the cars are in stock form
    Cheers!

    Re: LED DRL functionality

I watched a guy make a left turn in his S5 and the LED's cut out until he completed the turn, then they came back on. It was very eye-catching. I think I even let out an audible "Ooooooooh!" I'm not sure why you'd want to disable it. It's safer and looks cool.

    Re: LED DRL functionality

Yes this is how the cars come and it can be changed with a simple vag-com recode to the headlights. The A5/S5 guys have had this bother many of them since the car come out so they know the recode already. Do a search in their section and you should be able to find your recode pretty quickly. It is a safety function as mentioned above that makes it "easier" to see the turn signal.

    Re: LED DRL functionality

On a side note, how do you pronounce "VAG-COM?" Is it "vag" as in "vagina" or is it "vag" as in "Vegas" or is it "vag" as in vagabond?"

I guess "vagina" is more "vuh" than "vaa."

    Re: LED DRL functionality

haha. It's pronounced V-ahhhh-G. Like the beginning of Vagabond.

I heard someone call it Va-j com once like the short term for Vagina and everyone was cracking up.

Note to everyone, don't put "VAG is awesome" as your AIM away message. Most people get the wrong idea, even though it is definitely awesome in both senses, most people don't get it, lol.

technically the new name is VCDS, which Ross-tech now has trademarked
