help me make a decision on suspension

i currently have non-sport suspension and am riding higher than silverados. i can pick up sport suspension with 5k miles on it for $250 locally. also i can install the suspension at my friends shop for free so installation is not an issue.

my question is, is it even worth going to sport suspension? the biggest wheels i would get would be 18s. give me some of your thoughts

If I were you I would get the sport suspension for the better shocks and throw a set of springs on there.

thats the thing.. i know of every spring/shock combination there is along with all of the coilover setups available, but i am undecided to whether or not I'm going to keep or sell the car in september... the main reasons are because the cars at 45k miles now which is almost out of warranty and because of how much more it will depreciate over the upcoming months

Septermber is like in 9 months from now.
I dont know your $$$ situation, but when i was getting my suspension, i was BROKE (well im still broke ) so i went with used shocks/springs. LOL but i prolly got the lowest springs i could get, you shouldve seen a smile on my face when my car got off of the lifts.
u can always keep your old suspension and throw it back if gonan sell your car.

Re: help me make a decision on suspension

Just do it, I honestly think I'll be keeping a few 8e chassis in my car lineup forever. Who cares if it depreciates. You bought it as a car, it was never meant to be a investment in the first place.

And as in do it, i mean get a set of shocks / springs or coilover setup over the sport suspension. Sport suspension is a great upgrade over stock, but for the amount of labor and money you spend, its not too far off from a semi decent set of coilovers.

Sport suspension = great daily, firm yet comfortable imo, handles well for being factory suspension

Springs and shocks setup = Better handling, still pretty good daily imo (thats what I have), although you lack the height adjustability, as well as shock bound and rebound. But imo, you won't change your ride height once you dial it in.

Coilovers = maximum adjustability but expensive. However if I had to do it again, I would get coilovers, perhaps a set of stasis street/track sports.

for the low price and a few hours of labor, it would be a good way to go. Sure, other setups may have better handling, but it will be an improvement. Add the RS4 rear sway while you have it up and you should be pretty happy. You could do the whole thing for about $400, plus a pizza and a few beers if you can use your buddy's shop.

Re: help me make a decision on suspension

i'd buy them only if you know you wont have second thoughts later for like something like stasis or something. I dont think there's anything wrong with stock sports....but this is coming from an oldie like me. :)

i originally had stock sport springs, then I went on an audi drive (with like 30 others) up Mt Hamilton here in Nor cal and let's just say, after that I wanted suspension and a short shifter, which I bought soon after. I have FK coilovers...that I've never adjusted.

Re: help me make a decision on suspension

i have a feeling im going to regret the sport suspension in the future.. my ideal look would be the drop of H&R sport springs, maybe a tad lower to tighten up the gap...

i still have yet to see any feedback on the new VMAXX coilovers that stratmosphere has for sale..

on the other hand brand new billsteins shocks can be had for a little over $400 shipped and H&R springs arent expensive

Re: help me make a decision on suspension

I've been debating the same thing...I want a slightly lower stance and better handling without sacrificing ride quality/bad weather capabilities
I am leaning towards the sports suspension as well...
