I know a lot of you guys were talking about painting your rear diffusers a different color than stock. I had mine painted Brilliant Black to match my car but I decided I liked the contrast so I painted it gunmetal and I love it! Comments welcome. Enjoy!

    1. Tape off the rear bumper and cover the exhaust to eliminate overspray. I used 3M painters tape, it blocks paint better than other tapes.

    2. Apply a few even coats of Duplicolor Filler/Primer. (I did 3 light coats to avoid dripping)

    3. Apply Duplicolor Gunmetal paint (or whatever color you want) in light even coats.

Just remember you don't need to cover the entire diffuser with just one coat. Take your time to avoid doing a bad job.

I guess they can't remove the B6 valence for painting? The B7 one comes off pretty easily.

ya..hence my post above. I've wanted to do this for a while but was kinda iffy about taping everything up and painting while still on the car, but this process made it look pretty straight forward. I may finally do this tomorrow! I'm reading up on MOFSTEEL's writeup and will try to follow that as precisely as I can, prep and all.

^^^yeah, you can tell he's pretty thorough. May as well copy each step. Worked like a charm for me when I painted my front plate holder the same way

You think the same technique would work for the front chrome trim pieces? I blacked them out a while ago but they're starting to look a little janky cause of rocks and stuff, so might as well redo those while I'm at it.

Might be the reflection from the ground. Looks like there is a sheen to the paint. Looks good though.

I'd however prefer a matte finish. Looks good though.

    Re: Gunmetal Rear Diffuser Pics

I'm probably the last guy to ask!

    PM mofsteel
    or start a thread

lots of the guys who paint the chrome trim complain about chips. Especially the front end (stones). I've yet to hear a solution. Maybe buy OEM Titanium grill. What other chrome did you paint?

    Re: Gunmetal Rear Diffuser Pics

Looks good but I hope you covered the rest of the car. Otherwise you have tons of paint all over your car. Next time you claybar you'll find it. Ask me how I know.

For guys asking about trim pieces, get black primer and do at least couple of thick coats so if it chips it will be less noticeable. I have yet to see any chips on mine.

It's just the reflection from the ground. I put on a few coats of clear.
