Help Please

ok, so i had to change my clutch. i got a clutch flywheel all that stuff. took me like 16 hours to change it myself on the tallest set of jackstands i've ever seen.

its back together and works great. but my battery light is on. so i got a new battery hoping that was the problem. still on. bought a alternator since the car does have 111,000 miles on it. drove it around a little bit. it turned off.

everything was great til i was driving and the battery symbol showed up in the information center.

any help or advice would be freaking great. im about to stick some dynamite in the tank of this thing.

I didn't drive my car for about a month and the same thing happened to me. I kept driving and it never did it again. I'd check the system to make sure its charging and keep drivng it to see if it fixes itself.

Battery light? or battery displayed on the center console?

I've had the same then, everytime you disconnect your battery it requires the car to reset itself. It may turn off itself.

bad ground is my guess

yeah it was on in the dash ( the little red light) and it turned off after a while. but then it just kept flickering on and off and would sometimes stay on for a few minutes then just turn off for like 30 mins. and i thought it had figured itself out but then the battery indicator turned on in the information center thing (inbetween the tac and speedo) and the car almost shut off.

when i test the voltage at the battery with the car running it stays between 12.3 and 12.7. with the car shut off its at 12.7

i had thought maybe it was a ground also but i cant find one that is not connected anywhere.

someone told me when the battery is out that long you have to get the all the codes cleared and something about the voltage regulator is in the computer. so apparently thats what the connection on the alt. is for?

ive only owned this car for 6 months. never had anything german before. so this is a new experience. i freaking love the car. i think i'll only own audi/VW from now on. i just want to get this figured out because it is a huge headache
