    Symphony stuck always on?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Howdy -- pretty new to Audis and I'm having a bit of an issue with the Symphony head unit in my '02 S6. It is stuck in the "on" position (i.e. LEDs and backlight are lit), but nothing is displayed & none of the buttons do anything. The really weird thing is that even when the car is off (and locked), the radio buttons and backlight remain lit (with nothing displayed, just red).

I had to pull out fuse #37 for now, just so I wouldn't run out of juice -- I'm going to plug in a diag unit (not VAG) in tomorrow and see if it's throwing any codes (can't tell because i've got cat-codes too, haha).

Any advice on how to figure out what is going on and how I might go about fixing it would be greatly appreciated!

the only thing I can think of is that I stopped to give a guy a jump right before I noticed the problem... but my wife just said that she noticed the problem before we gave the guy a jump-start, so i guess that isn't related

    Re: Symphony stuck always on?

can't think of anything else... just bought a VAG-Com, so I'll hook that up next week (or the week after depending on shipping)...

was going to take the car in and scan it at the shop, but have to take the nissan in and reset the window motors (it's getting sold)

if anyone has any more ideas, please let me know. Thanks!

When i first bought the car it did it. I took it to Audi and they simply pulled out the fuse waited like 15 mins and put it back in. Then it worked.

cool -- i've had the fuse out for about 2 days... i'm a little hammered w/ the new year and all, so i'll stuff it back in tomorrow and see what happens

I've already prepared my economic review board (a.k.a. the wife) that a RNS-E upgrade (w/ bluetooth) might be necessary, so if it's still alive we'll add that to the birthday gift list ;-)

    thanks guys!

    Re: Symphony stuck always on?

worked like a champ -- plugged the fuse back in, the CD's started cycling through and turned on & off like normal.

    thanks for your help!
