    Search functionality...

I've seen people complain about this in the main forums, and people always tell them to put it in the feedback section. So I check the feedback forum, and lo and behold, there isn't a thread about this, so I'm making one. I hope one wasn't already made, then deleted.

Is there any way to decrease the time between searches? PLEASE! I can't tell you how many times I've misspelled a word only to have to wait 30 seconds to try again. Or I try to search for something, find no results, then WAIT for my next opportunity to type in the next selection of words I came up with in the .04 seconds it took to run the original search. I'm not saying we need to eliminate the wait period, but could we perhaps shorten it to 10 or 15 seconds?

    Re: Search functionality...

We wouldn't delete such a thread. There have been some about the topic, just not recently. The time limit is there for good reason. It's to stem the load on our servers. We've discussed lowering the limit a bit and may be able to do so in the new year.

Awesome... Whatever you lower it to (if you can) will be better than 30 seconds. That's an eternity!

P.S. - Awesome job on this site Anthony.

    Re: Search functionality...

I've asked about this before. Honda-tech and other forums don't implement a lag between searches.

It's really just annoying for the users on your site. If you want to avoid flood attacks then there are other ways to avoid that without impacting the legitimate users.

That's a great idea since the time limit is still 30 seconds.

    Thx!

It's actually been recently lowered to 15. We hope that helps.

We added several common two letter Audi related "words" to the search tool awhile back such as TT, A3, S3, A4, S4, etc.

Were the various chassis designations previously mentioned, such as B7, B6 etc. included? Also, now that I think about it, most people don't mention these designations in their post, but rather the year of the car, so maybe that could be a worthwhile addition.

I don't believe B5, B6, etc are currently in the system but I'll double check and we'll get them added if not.
