A little late on the post, but whatever.
Here are some videos I took of me driving my car at a track day earlier this month at Eagle Canyon Raceway in Decatur, TX
This first video is just a normal run, my second track session of the day.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FkrGMYPIrBo
This video is my last track session and I go to hot into a corner and 180!

    Enjoy!

    Nice!

For your spin, you didnt correct quick enough and you should have held the throttle in a neutral position (read some acceleration, not full)) rather than lifting completely (which caused your spin).

Glad you're getting seat time Chris, I missed the past 2 seasons and hope to come back hard next year making 5 days at least. Nice videos!

I think some hitting a later apex might suit you better as well, you were hot but turned in a bit early and the understeer threw it out.

Looks like you had some fun and didn't do too much damage. I try to brake early, late apex with medium throttle to full throttle once I am sure I will not have to close the throttle at all. Works well in the snow too. Can't wait to get back on the track.

good lines man, and don't sweat it about the spin, you have to spin out a few times to learn the limits.

Track days are instructed, you will have an instructor in car until signed off. If you run with ACNA you'll get bracketed into an experience class. I prefer to have an instructor still myself, I feel it always helps to improve things I am not picking up on while at the helm long before watching the videos and such. Avg cost would be around 250.00 a day with most run groups/clubs.

    Re: Track day vids

Yea most track days are instructed and I was lucky to have one for free on this event. I got to attend this track day for $20!!!!! It was a charity event and I had a total of 4- 20 minute sessions.

My thoughts exactly, didn't cut wheel enough and not enough gas, got to keep wheels spinning for traction.

You should roll with the Midwest crew sometime then. I'm sure my mom wouldn't mind lending you the couch for a weekend
Most of ours seem to be <$200, but normally $140-150.

You runs looks good. I'm with the above statements, you can't learn your limits if you don't push 'em.
I don't know how aggressive you guys are allowed to be, but if you're not allowed to pass in the corners (normal for club racing), remember that you get the whole corner to yourself. Start wide, hit the apex and carry out your line.

... and always brake in a straight line. Trailbraking will F- you in the A, every time, or you'll scare the crap out of the guy behind you.

Yea, i learned the hard way that I should NEVER brake (at all) in a turn. And yes, I am glad I had that experience to know what its like to slide out. I feel alot more comfortable knowing my limits now.

    Re: Track day vids

I love trail braking. Scares the hell out of whoever rides along.

The reason to get on the gas when the rear steps out isn't to keep the tires spinning but to transfer weight back to the rear to regain traction. If you let off the weight transfers forward which gives the front more traction than the rear. If I'm understeering in a corner I often lift off to rotate the car and get back on the throttle just before the car is pointed at the late apex.

In slow and out fast is the way of Quattro. These cars really dislike decreasing radius turns. Everything else is butter.
    Jim
