    Need Urgent Help

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So here's the short end since I'm posting from my blackberry

    1) Put on snowtires
    2) drove 100 miles
    3) car starts vibrating at around 60mph
    4) thought it was balance issue so took to dealership - ballanced but still problem
    5) they said no bent rims / significant bends

what could it be? - its a wobble/vibration only when stepping on gas - when crusing no vibration

    Re: Need Urgent Help

if you park outside overnight it could be the temporary flat spotting on the tires from sitting. Does it go away after the tires warm up? if it doesn't go away after warming up you could have a tire or two out of round. if these are new tires i would go back to the place you bought them and get them checked.

    Hubcentric Rings?

Wheel Bolt torque problem? Make sure you torque them in the * (star) pattern.

    Loose belts in a tire?

Go to AUDI and tell them to have them ROAD FORCED BALANCED. That machine works wonders! It should be $50 and it will give you a print out of tire wear, tire belt wear.

It will even tell you to remove the tire from the rim, rotate it 180 degrees and re-install it to help balance it without weights!!! Pretty cool huh.

    Re: Need Urgent Help

Put the summer wheels/tires back on and road test to see if its still vibrating under load.

If yes, then check your mounts. If no, then it's your tires --> road force balance.

Anytime I get any kind of vibration the first thing I do is swap on a different set of wheels. Feathered tires once cost me a wheel bearing replacement and axle replacement when I was younger and dumber and didn't know to eliminate ALL of the easy possibilities first.

    Re: Need Urgent Help

Only on acceleration sounds like an axle issue and the snow tires are making it more pronouned. Put your other tires back on and see if it still there.

can you elaborate more on axle issues? its only around 55-65mph - at 75-80+ the problem goes away
