    Re: wiper blade swap help!

on one side of the blade the rubber wipper refill has this hinge that is not allowing the wiper refill to come out of the existing wiper blade. even if i pushed the hinge it wouldnt make a difference. should i just get new blades?

pull the refill down where it is getting held, and you should be able to slide it off

then slide the new refill in the same manner.

Yeah just look closely. The blades (and refills) have a metal spine and one end will have some sort of detent or will be bent in a way to hold it to the frame.

When I changed mine I had to fiddle with it because it was not a direct replacement, the refill spines were a little different than the OEM ones.

Frankly, I wasnt that impressed with them. I just bought the Aero wipers through the ECS GB.

    Re: wiper blade swap help!

I do see the indent on one side of the wiper blade but do not see how I would open up the metal hinge holding it in place. I think Illl just get new wipers and not break anything...

this is the indent I found on one side of the wiper. I do not see how the metal hinge holding it in can be spread apart. any ideas?

Cut the rubber, use a flathead screwdriver to spread the black metal apart wide enough to slide out the insert. Install new insert, and use pliars to squeeze the black metal back together.

Honestly it's not hard just take your time and dont be rash or get frustrated... that's when things get broken.

for some reason the non-oem inserts don't fit as well as the OEM inserts from the dealer. I ended up swaping over to the oem aero wiper setup last year since getting quality non-oem inserts was such a pia.

    Re: wiper blade swap help!

i just finished doing mine...i used the trico 47-700s and they are the exact same size as the originals. Fyi, at one of the ends on the original blades, there is a black end cap that has two arms leading between the metal arms and the rubber blade. If you look closely, there is a square tab, underneath the metal arm, where you need to push down on one side of the square tab and pull up on the other side to release the square tab. Once this is done, gently pull the black tab arms over the metal wiper arms and slide the blades out. If order to get this black end cap off the blade, i used a plier and pulled the end cap off, then re-inserted the new blades and placed the end cap back on. the hardest part was figuring out how to remove the end cap...hope this helped
