Left front blinker, not blinking!

I pulled the old bulb out and one of the contacts had a bit of charring on it as well as the contact inside the socket. I replaced the bulb and still no luck. Should I buy a new socket? As a driving light it works but the blinking function now never works. Help!

I am having the same problem. I've searched as well, but only found one other thread with this issue, and there were not any helpful comments. So I'd also really appreciate if someone could lend some insight.

have you tried replacing the socket. I might try it tomorrow or Monday if the dealer is open.

Does your indicator blink fast on one side and normal on the other? That's what I have going on. I just read on VWvortex that it's indicative of something after the relay and that the relay is fine. I'm really suspecting the socket now.

Try using a dab of solder on the charred portion.
It just needs to make contact and complete the circuit.

Pull out the socket (not the bulb but the whole socket) and rotate it 180(degrees) and re-insert it.....

ummm...that whole blinker fluid nonsense is what killed a similar thread on here. I'll just wait for real suggestions

when i did the joey mod to my headlights.. after i put it all back together and intsalled my blinkers, they wont blink when i have my headlights on it just throws a code but then my headlights are off or when i am locking the car they blink any ideas?

the two guys on here that have the same problem didn't mod their headlights. I think your problem is prolly different.

That exactly what happened to me....just do what I advised above, and I guarentee you that it will be fixed

I'd much rather have you do a slight thread jack, instead of making a whole other thread. It really wasn't much of a thread jack. A thread jack would be along the lines of my turbo is making a weird noise...

No prob murder...
It's frustrating for guys like me and the other dude to research this same issue with our cars and see how virtually all the threads die because of guys fooling around and/or threadjacking. I found like 7-10 threads over 3 pages that all died with no good answer.
I am glad however that you found an answer
I'll try reversing the socket...i'll report back later today

Try to clean the contacts with the same stuff you would use on battery terminals. water and arm & hammer and a cuetip or maybe some rubbing alcahol. Or you can try a new Relay for the blinkers, it might be stuck in the off position.

It worked! I'm not sure if I ended up rotating it 180 degrees or 360 but it worked. Thanks man!

Well if you rotated it 360 than you would be back at sqaure one! So yes, you must have rotated it 180.

I know, right!! I turned it what I thought was 180 and it didn't fit...so I kept turning until it did. While I had the headlight pulled out (but still attached) and the turn lamp in it's socket I figured I'd try it to see if worked...sho 'nuf. I was extreeeemely happy!!

don't know what to tell ya...do what I did! Turn that bad boy 180 degrees, curse mother nature for letting the sun go down while you're working on your car and answer stupid questions from your neighbors. Worked for me!
