    Big Turbo Advice Needed

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So I was in the shop getting my belly pan ziptied and there was an a4 getting totally stripped of all the parts, and they need a new home.

I would be able to get a full gt28rs kit w/ injectors nd carbino intake and a fully greddy exhaust all for 2500 installed. Problem is the person who had it didn't even have an fmic, so i would have to get that, and i would have to get a BT program for it. The price sounds nice, but i would need that fmic and programming so it would be about 4k for everything. BTW I have a TIP and fully stock

My predicament is, is this even a good deal? Anything i should be aware of or check out? Is it even worth doing or should i just add like 4k more and just an s4 and have nicer seats and better brakes nd about the same power? Any input would be nice, its so tempting but i gotta hold myself back, unless i get that extra push which i dont even know if i want lol. Thanks

    Any input would be nice

oh and a quick pic of me making it up a pretty diesel driveway

what else does it come with? Intake is just for noise, do you get a exhaust manifold? I'd add it up.... Doesn't seem like a crazy good deal since you still need software and fmic

if you're serious about getting this kit i would pass on the carbonio and save yourself at least $200 toward a FMIC/exhaust. you can get a full custom exhaust for around $450.

I'd pass on a used setup, for $2700 you can get a Eliminator setup from Eurocode to include injectors. programming, test pipe and manifold.

For $300 more you can have the turbo inlet pipe and drop in air filter

Are these prices for the kits installed or the kits themselves that you guys are throwing out? B.c factoring in the labor is a must

Looking a that eurocode link for the 71r kit.... What else is needed that isn't included? Fmic and exhaust....

$2800 for parts + $1k fmic + $700 exhaust puts you at about $4500. Labor would cost.....????

Is the same as winstons kit for $6k out the door?

    I disagree. That's $2500 installed + $800 for a fmic + $700 for tuning.

With the elim set up, thats $2700 + $800 for a fmic + $400 for custom exhaust $800 labor. + $300 if he decides to get the TIP and drop in filter.

There's other things you'd need for both set ups running strong, like clutch and internals.. but overall the used set up is cheaper and much better imo.

im going to the shop tmrw, maybe i should negotiate with him tmrw maybe hel drop the price a little bit, kit has only 5k on it, urghh... half of you are saying go for it, the other half are saying to do other things. basically 4k for a fully complete gt28rs used setup isn't such a good deal i see

get better power, interior, brakes...and it would be more reliable then a used setup that you dont really have an accurate history, if he ran it without an IC what else could be wrong?
Go S4 or skip on used setup and go with eCodes kit

yea, and better resale... that's the smart decision. definetly worth considering though, but s4 is def the better route.

    Re: Big Turbo Advice Needed

    how about this deal?

    - GTRS turbo
    - Genesis 550 cc injectors (not 440 cc)
    - Neuspeed Turbo inlet pipe
    - Ebay test pipe 2.5"
    - ATP cast manifold
    - Coolant lines, fittings

    All for $1,450

Down side is that the parts have around 25,000 miles and doesn't come with the Chip Tuning. I have an APR tuning and I don't think APR makes GTRS w/ 550 cc tuning so I prolly have to get REVO for $700. It this a good deal?

you would need an exhaust nd fmic and tuning, so that alone is about 2500 MIN installed, plus the kit 1800 installed, so thats 4k+ for a used turbo kit, you tell me is it a good deal

An exhaust and FMIC is not $2,500 installed. FMIC is $850, exhaust is $900, plus install.

IMO that is not an amazing deal, but its not horrible either. The secondary market demand for used BT kits pretty strong, the supply is pretty limited, so you never get an amazing, scorching deal when there are so many interested buyers.

The kit that I've managed to piece together over the past few months of diligently looking for used parts:

GTRS (new CHRA installed by ATP)
    new style ATP log mani
    Genesis 430's
    Neuspeed tip
    ER Comp FMIC
    Full Milltek exhaust
    Revo software
    MBC
    OFE SS

All of these parts were used except the software and clutch (I've yet to buy these). Total came to $4,250. I also need to buy a Milltek HFC, and because I can't seem to find one used that'll tack on another $800. So there is a ~$5,000 GTRS kit with all supporting mods.

Retail for these at discounted prices would have been just north of $7,000.

Everything plus install of course, which I will do myself. So is it an amazing deal? No. But it is less expensive and if I eventually sell these parts I'll have reduced depreciation, but since I plan to keep my car for another 5+ years I'll have a great time driving it!

    Re: Big Turbo Advice Needed

Ok so why dont we just compare what all this will cost you retail.

    1. gt28rs turbo it, about $2100 <----- Under estimating
    2. Carbino Intake, about $350 shipped, http://www.ecodetuning.com/shop/cart...t_detail&p=517
    3. Greddy Full exhaust, about $1000 shippedhttps://www.nurspec.com/ProductDetai...o,S-line-02-05

Thats $3450 without installation, Lets say the install will be about $500, $700.
your looking at over $4000 easy with out the tune and under estimating the labor fees.

Also, some mention you can get a full kit new installed for $4500... does that come with the greddy exhaust?
Offered $2500 i think is amazing, and you didnt even negotiate...

If you think thats too steep my suggestions would be to find out if you can have it without the exhaust and you can always get a custom exhaust...

ultimately without labor fees your pretty much paying ruffly $1800 for a GT28RS kit with intake and exhaust... sounds like a bad deal'?

I vote S4... say you do end up buying the BT kit, your still going to need to pick up a clutch (South Bend stage 4) which is going to be pretty expensive!
