I want to replace my stock mufflers with magnaflow's 14851. do i need to cut any pipes or are there clamps just holding it up with hangers? i haven't got any time to check underneath the car so i have absolutely no idea. thanks a lot. btw im going to do the custom piping pretty soon later on but i just want to put the mufflers on right away since i have them.

    Re: Removal of mufflers

You will need to go to a local muffler shop so they can cut your old mufflers off and then weld the new ones on. While you're there you should have them cut off the center resonator and just replace it with regular piping because you will have very little sound difference unless you cut that center resonator off. I went to a local meineke and they did it for a good price $80 for the resonator, and i think like 240 for both mufflers so $320 total? I learned the hard way nobody told me about the resonator so i ended up doing it like 5 months later but trust me you wont hear it unless you do it lol.

so you're saying about $320 total for the labor and then about $200 for the mufflers shipped?

I see you live on Long Island if you are anywhere by central islip go to carleton ave between the court houses and Suffolk ave. They will probably charge you 100 to do everything and believe it or not they are very helpful. That's where I take my sisters Jetta for work.

    Re: Removal of mufflers

there is no such thing as a middle resonater the two furthest back so called "mufflers" are actually oversized resonaters, and the so called middle resonater is the single muffler.

    Re: Removal of mufflers

14851's are universal mufflers. so they wont fit directly. all they have to do is to cut the old ones off, and make a bit of their own piping between the gap of your magnaflow muffler and the rest of the piping.

They did straight pipes for a 100 bucks? Then you just bought tips?
