    Clutch Options for my setup

I have a CVT Tranny in my b6.. ehh Its not bad, but I wish they would have put in a regular 6spd auto... My car has this thing, when ever I go from like a stop it takes a second to engage the gear, and then go! So naturally I hit the pedal harder so when it finally engages the gear WHOOM it goes, and has so much raw Torque build up that my old Dunloap Direzza DZ101's would spin! Now my BF Goodrich ones hold it down...

When I am on the brakes, braking for a stop and then hit the gas to go, it sometimes, depending how hard I hit the gas, will studder. I was wondering if there are any Aftermarket clutches, belts, etc for this tranny?

Re: Clutch Options for my setup

the CVT was one of the most expensive and pain in the ass tranny's that Audi ever build. It also doesn't do well when extra power is added. Drive it responisbly and it should hold up. It seems like it was designed for lazy old people, so just don't push it to hard. if it starts to go you are looking at a large repair bill. I have seen repair numbers in the $4-6k range in the past for this tranny.

Question... If/when this tranny goes, can it be swapped for a regular tranny?

Re: Clutch Options for my setup

OP, here is what you can do. if you are willing to spend, you can swap a 6speed right now but that will takes time and money of course. stuff needs to be changed like instrument cluster, ECU software upgrade, interior modifications, and the hardwares to go along with the 6speed

like I said before, just sell your car and get another B6.
for the record, your tranny doesn't have a clutch.

Re: Clutch Options for my setup

    wow, so much wrong here..

there are no audi six speed autos on the b6
no it doesnt have a clutch
stopping flooring it before you blow it up and have a $5-10k bill

sell your b6 and buy another if you want a stickshift, its my understanding autos (i dont know about cvts) use a different flywheel/crank so a swap is nearly impossible and definitely too expensive at any rate

Auto manufacturers started using this trans due to better fuel economy and seamless shifting.

Re: Clutch Options for my setup

^^ I could vouch for that... 22mpg in the city, 32 on the highway... I get like 425miles to a tank (thats mixed driving) and I love the seemless shifting sure... BUT modding is a dead end here lol

autos do not use a different crank... only in the older blocks. His motor will work just fine and is definitely possible, but you are right that buying a different car would be worth it
