    Lemon law question

I bought a 2003 Audi A4 and the dealer said I have a 30 day warranty because it's over 80,000 miles and less than 100,000. Before I signed the papers he put the car through inspection (I didn't, big mistake) and I told him to fix the driver side light because it was out and the check engine light was on. When I got it everything seemed fine until today when the left lights goes out and I have to turn it off then on to get it to work, and the check engine light and battery light is on. I talked to a friend and he said they may have just cleared the code and to take it to an Audi dealer and get it inspected and list every major problem and have the dealer that sold me the car pay for it.

Anyone ever had to go through this with a dealer, and did they honor the warranty?

    I'm in New York btw.

    Re: Lemon law question

where you purchase the vehicle?? For NY inspection sticker you need readiness code to be set to pass the inspection, if the readiness code was set when they inspect the car it did pass & it does not have problem with your mechanical stuff such as CAT, o2 sensor... etc. If they clear the code they should have reset the readiness code to pass on NY inspection.

Lemon law-you need to bring the vehicle to the dealer for same problem 3 times for it to be lemon law but i'm not sure about if the vehicle has to be new.

What i would do is go to pep boys or autozone & scan for code and list it on here

    Re: Lemon law question

    1. To be considered under the lemon law you're going to need to have gone through significantly more problems with the car.

    2. Is the 30 day warranty written in your paperwork somewhere? Are you still within the 30 day period?

    3. If yes, then you should find a shop to diagnose exactly what's wrong with the car (for credibility go to an audi dealership) and take the quote back to your car dealer. Make him pay every cent in repair costs but have the work done somewhere reputable...and if he asks to do it himself I don't know if I'd trust him.

    4. They have to honor the warranty if it's written or you have full grounds to sue.

    5. Don't EVER purchase a used car outside of the manufacturer's warranty without running a carfax, AND having a 3rd party mechanic do a full inspection. This was probably the best $150 spent on my current car...

ps. and by reputable 3rd party mechanic I mean a full on audi/porsche shop. any shop that specializes in either american or asian imports won't be able to find out what's really wrong. instead they'll just do a visual inspection and run a vag-com for codes...the same stuff that even you can do.

    Re: Lemon law question

thanks for the replies. I'm within the 30 day period and it is written within the contract. I have an appointment with an Audi dealer on Monday, and i'll see what is wrong with the car.

Also know that VOA / AOA is reported to be the hardest to work with to get them to accept Lemon cars and other problems. Hopefully you can get the dealership to step-up. If they were truely deceitful, probably not. If they just overlooked something or had a dumb-ass do the inspection, you might get taken care of. Good luck.
