Thumbs up JHM Motorsports shorty shifter upgrade

Thought I'd share my recent experience.

I had purchased a shorty shifter from JHM a few months back and was one of the people that had a difficult time getting the adjustments correct. I was never able to get it perfect. A local shop tried 2x as well and couldn't get it perfect either. In the end the car was drivable, but it was tricky at times to get into reverse..

As many of you have seen a few weeks ago JHM released an updated short shifter and offered to upgrade everyone's unit for free. http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...&highlight=jhm I took them up on the offer and asked if Jason would install and upgrade my shifter personally, which he offered to do for free.

I drove up to their shop and he upgraded and installed my shifter on Tuesday. All I can say is WOW! It's perfect.. I really enjoyed my 800 mile drive back home last night.

Jason is a fellow car enthusiast and I think we are lucky to have someone like him diligently working to bring products to market for our cars. It's also very refreshing to have someone stand behind their product and go above and beyond by installing it for free. A big thumbs up for JHM, they've won my future business.

800 miles isn't a big deal for me. Actually I did the entire round trip of 1600 miles in a day and a half (including 10 hours of sleeping and drinking at some ranch/hotel..). I always end up with a ton of vacation I have to burn or lose in December. Last year I drove my pickup from Phoenix to Florida and back in 5 days (towing a car both ways).

Anyways, I ran into a few nice audis on the trip. I saw a really nice B7A4 on the I5 Monday night and a moro blue B6S4 cab on the 10 (a lady driver with a small dog walking around in the car ). Bottom line a day and a half driving the S without the wife around, good times. I'm barely over 48k miles now.

    Thanks for your update!

I'm about 90 miles from Jason's Shop & have contacted him about a few things for b6 S4 - my impression is that Jason is cool, very knowledgeable guy & that JHM is an outstanding operation!

As evidenced by your positive experience, their commitment to excellence & customer satisfaction is something all vendors should, IMHO, provide!

I am going to get a set of their lightweight two-piece front rotors & help beta test/ develop their upcoming rear rotor.

How can you tell if you got the upgraded short shifter or the older version?

That's not good, our Recaros aren't exactly made for wide rear ends...

Re: JHM Motorsports shorty shifter upgrade

I am in the market for a B6/7 S4 right now. I move to Sac-town in about a month and plan to get as many planed upgrades from JHM that I can. They seem to have a stellar reputation and a true commitment to service. They will be just a stone throw away as well. My belief in the business world is, if you model yourself as a customer service company that happens to be in the ----(< place product here) business, will always be successfully.

Jason is building a business based on his personal values & desires-true customer service being just one example.

IMHO: more often than not customer centric businesses, with great products, thrive in most business cycles.

Even in our currently bizarre economy his extra mile formula should prevail!
    Good luck!

If it shipped prior to December of 08 then it is the old one. This ONLY applies to B6/B7 S4 and RS4. All others are in no need of a change, if you are having difficulties with other models it is just Audis lovely design of infinite adjustment and just need to try some fine tuning.
