Power steering at idle, hard as rock. 3.0L, 77k

I am so tired of this piece.. I wasnt even playing in the snow, and all of a sudden, the power steering stops working at idle.. if the car is rolling, or revved even a little it works fine. What is going on here? fluid is fulll, looks good.

Not leaking any fluid either.

i couldnt tell you exactly whats wrong but it could be engine and i just say this bc the power steering is driven off a belt on the engine....which is why ppl remove power steering units on their track cars....i know a couple friends with hondas who have done this, i assume it is the same way with audis though

Wow, this is crazy, I have 75k on mine with the same issue... I believe it's the pump. Mine makes a little noise every once in a while. I feel your pain, I would have never bought this car had I realized the repair costs associated with it. Definitely would have went 1.8t instead...

i'm gonna say pump. blew mine on my b5 doing donuts though. exact same symptoms. parallel parking was annoying.
