    first BAT kill

well, my first real spontaneous race with a stranger happened today. boy what a christmas present

i've been dicking around with friends and their cars as sort of a benchmark since getting my car back, and i've been to the track -- but this is my first real encounter on the street.

setting - empty intersection, two straight lanes (one ending about 1/2 mi up the road) with me in the ending lane. a c5 corvette with exhaust (all i can confirm was on the car... loud as hell, wasn't camming though) rolls up next to me and sits there for a second.. then starts bouncing back and fourth on the clutch at the light. we wait for the intersection to clear and when the light turns green we both roll into first and then just keep going.

first, second, third, pulled on him hard as hell - changed lanes in front of him with about 2 car lengths to spare as i went in to 4th although i must admit i was pretty impressed... i figured a c5 would have been a lot slower than that. all in all a good race.

merry christmas everyone, may your stockings be full of mod money

    gracias - and will do

it was fun because the road bends left the whole time -- and i think he figured out what was happening when he wasn't the only one that broke the tires loose and drifted out a little bit when we shifted to 2nd

He would take out the Mustang SRTs and Cobras all day but not the Vettes. Too light and quick he said.

hahaha yeah. my rears more so than my fronts in situations like that though. I wasn't too sure what all i was in for at first but since it wasn't camming like a mother-f'er i figured i had him beat. (people around here spray on the street though, so you never know... for all i know he DID have a bottle hooked up and just never hit it.)

he for sure looked surprised when i passed by him that quickly, it would have been a lot closer from a dig though.... 215 street tires/16's = no traction for me on a launch if i don't want to bog it. it'll spin first until i let off the gas, and it takes forever to get up to speed enough to NOT lag like a bitch into 2nd gear. we rolled though, so it was game on with the throttle lol.

and thank you everyone im looking forward to finding my next victim... my big benchmark right now (after some tweaking in the boost & timing department) is a c6 z06. i know i won't beat one on pump gas, but i want to see where i stand with one... it'd give me a good idea for basically everything else

Chip does nothing for Camaros. Heads and cams will really wake them up though. H/C on an LS1 will put you at easily 500+ RWHP.

Line it up against a Terminator ('03/'04 Mustang Cobra) with equal money spent on mods and the 'Maro will get smoked, though.

If I didn't live in CO I would definitely be buying a Terminator instead of an S4. Absolutely sick cars

LS1s are very strong on the top end which is exactly where these cars lose power because of the AWD

LOL, not hating on you, congrats on your build. Are you running 11 second quarters right now? C6 Z06's run them on street tires, all day long. Throw in sticky rubber, and heaven forbid...a cam. You won't get too close. Post a video when you do race one though!

Sounds about the right power range for a either an aftermarket heads only LS1, or a mild heads/cam swap with LS2 or LS6 parts. With custom aftermarket heads/cam many people have seen over 500 at the wheels, but it is at the cost of decent streetability.

Yeah those cars can be beasts. Too bad the interior is shit and the seats are possibly the most uncomfortable I have ever sat in.

lol the c6 z06's are monsters. I saw one at the local car nights make a current model m5 look like a civic, just completely blew him away. And the z06 was stock.

Yeah you'd need GT35 or bigger, and lots of headwork.

head and cam is like a bat, it takes alot of other mods to run it properly. and 500+whp is a bit much for that amount of work. im actually skeptical about this entire deal. and whoever said a cobra would take a maro is crazy, GM torque management (lack of) and rear gears will take a second off a quarter mile, Fords are weak

.....everyone here must be too drunk on nog to read correctly.

i want to race one for fun, i know i would lose. i just want to see where i stand since i know exactly where a c6 zo6 stands amongst 99% of the other cars i see on a daily basis. it's the best way for me to get a true feel for where my car sits in that same spectrum.

i know what it would take to beat one - this isn't my first rodeo, and i've both seen them run and driven them myself. i know my car inside and out, and i also have a fairly decent idea of just what it's capable of on the current setup --- something i don't think ANYONE here fully understands. I'm sorry, you can look at the numbers all day long, and you can do your math all you want, but everyone who thinks that just because nobody with a 3071r HAS put down 400awhp on pump means that nobody CAN is an idiot.

i've got a LOT of room left to run with this turbo in case anyone forgot - and i ran it with a few restrictions last time. I'm almost willing to say that it might be possible to do it with nothing more than some tweaking and larger injectors. (and a file to go with them obviously) Maybe the rest of the fuel system needs a look... who knows yet? none of us do and i intend to find out. maybe i'd need cams, a large port head, an exhaust manifold that isn't a piece of shit - there's a lot left to do here people... and i've already snuck right up on 340. 350 is EASILY attainable on my next dyno trip, and i'll be gunning for 375 as my actual goal. stay tuned..

like i said though, i know that nobody here besides maybe winston and doug understand what i'm talking about - and even they can't fully understand without being around the car personally.

At first I thought it said "I'm not going to post anymore until I get a dyno/track run". I thought this was the last we'd see of poor Clint.

    C6 Z06 is 7.0L (427ci), 7K RPMs and 505HP...

It had better beat all B6s
