Headlight Led = V1 failed - V2 Good to GO

    Hi Guys,

If you remember, the first picture was my first Led Mod. Unfortunately (and like a fellow Ziner wrote) they failed after only few weeks. Other thing that was bothering me, it was not really close of the R8 look.
Well, because failure was not an option, I decided to built from scrap a new setup: Less Led (16 rather than 48), much brighter (above 20.000 cmd compared to 8000) and the life limit is 10.000 hrs. Downside: hardware more expensive, takes longer to build (aprox. 10 hrs per headlight) and much more complicated since I had to wire the entiere strip. But at the end, I like them. These headlights are from a Fellow Ziner (he will recognize himself) and I would like to tell him that they will be shipped soon

MUCH BETTER! Great Job! Now, if you could fabricate the holder to point the LEDs forward, then you're good to go!

That looks great. Post pics on car. 10 hours per light is some serious labor.

The holder is pointing forward but what a pain. The LED design has 30 degrees angle, so enough tolerence to be fine. The pictures a not relevant because the headlight is on top of my Daughter car, just for test. In any case, the A4 headlights in general, when isntalled on the car, are so low that it won't make a big diffrence

just considering this, but your still doing this for people if we ship em down to you? and how much is the new price.. also assuming your going to have a much longer turn around time haha 10 hours for each... wow

also you said the life limit is "10.000 hours" .. did you mean 10,000 hours? haha ( yeah kinda stupid question but i just want to make sure heh)

    thanks

Correct ship them to me and I will take care of you. Turn around time will be 3 days. Price should be around $280, I did not make the final calculation yet. Yes, the new LED are rated 10 Thousand hours continious operation. (I have big finger, it was a typo)

Maybe that's why it's taking you 10 hours of labor per headlight! lol

JK man nice job these look much better . I'm guessing that if you even used fewer LEDs like 8 per headlight and had them further apart it would look even better (just a thought) and maybe less work.

Looks much nicer with less leds. I'd even be inclined to try less! more spacing between them seems to give it that OEM audi feel.

10 LEDs with those size leds (5mm?) are far too few- The numbers of Leds he is using is just about right. Im using 12 per each side for my headlamps, and 7 for each fog grill.

So far the individual LEDS has worked on my car flawlessly, and has seen many many miles and driving time.

I did try with 8, 10, 12, 14 but 16 is, in my opinion, the best result

Yer doin just fine- Can i make a suggestion however, to fabricate a hood/shade on top of the LEDS- to get rid of the light bleeding into the housing. You'll be a step closer to looking OEM. trust me, lots of trial and error when i started with this project a year ago.

Thanks. Looking at it, the bleeding does not bother me at all and I even would say that I like it. It gives a ghost light inside the housing and I kind of like it. I'll give it a shot with the shade
