I was putting on aftermarket wheels and one of my wheel was unstable. When I took my wheels off I shook the rotor and it moves.. I know it shouldnt be. Do I need a new wheel bearing kit? Please help.

Ive seen play in a hub before does the hub move in and out. What do you mean by unstable. Put your hands on the wheel at 9 4 o'clock and try to push and pull and see if there is any play if not it may not be the hub. Your wheel could be out of balance or your rotor could be warped.

    Re: rotor moving... help

basically I didnt tighten the lugs in all the way into the hub and I wobbled back home after driving one block. Basically I was driving with lugs loose so the wheel was clunking as I crawled my way home.

    Re: rotor moving... help

    Kevin,
what your video is showing is completely normal. The only thing that holds your rotor in place is the caliper (which you must remove to replace your rotors). This is normal. The rotor is installed over the hub assembly and the lug bolts will hold everything in place when they are tightened. In your video you are turning the axle by the axle bolt. The axle is turning slightly, but the rotor stays in place (since it's not attached) and the sides of the rotor's bolt holes are hitting the studs you have there. It's normal. Put the wheel back on and tighten those nuts, there should be no problems after that.

x2 completely normal. some cars have small bolts or screws that hold the rotor to the hub our cars dont.

    Re: rotor moving... help

Aw is a great source of info as far as searching. It is really hard to get help unless you are one of the daily regulars that post from his cubicle. I can't lie though....AW search is the reason I am able to fix my car sometimes
