Paint or Vinyl??

Gettin the roof black.. should I go with paint or vinyl???

I'm afraid vinyl will fade, peel, etc..

But paint seems so permanent and more extensive work..

Any ideas?? Thank in advance

id go with vinyl , will cost you about 200 for a good job, and will look just as good as a paint job. also paint is permanent and would run you more money

Vinyl, and don't do matte/satin/gay or whatever you call that rustic look.

Mere get a heavy duty marine kind, you can also get a gloss or matte coat, as vinyl treatment

Vinyl would be nicer for the investment, it will be more flexible overtime too

i saw a black vinyl roof on a 335i, but until i got about 1 foot away i could see the creases where they wrap the sides under.

paint it .. it should only cost you 200 to paint it..my body shop said 400 for the roof and lowers painted so it should not be that much at all

vinyl looks perfect... you will never know its not paint and its reversable

vinyl ==> reversibility => flexibility ==> low risk => can be as good as paint ==> can be taken off when you sell the car or get tired of it.

paint ==> irreversible => permanency ==> has to be an excellent job ==> could be $$ ==> cannot change your mind later

Are you doing JUST the roof? I would think something would be needed for the hood as well. You would probably need something black on the doors as well. It has to be a theme all across the car, otherwise it would look weird.

Not true IMO. Black mirrors would look real good but the roof gives the panoramic affect going from the front windshield to the rear window.

Well, she can always photoshop the roof in black with the car as is and nothing else.. I have a feeling its gonna look weird.

Loo0k at that everyone has there own opinion. you should go on what u want. its obviously comes down to money and money in the future and if you wont like it later on.

I'll have a black lip on the car and maybe black mirrors but i doubt it..

I need to do something about that chrome strip on the rear.. Probably gonna paint-match it.. but could do black.. that might be out of place though...

Black would look good on that strip, but I honestly like the brushed chrome look of it. I'm not planning on changing mine anytime soon. I bet it would look good black if I made my trunk rings black and had a black rear lip spoiler.

I wouldn't put a black spoiler on my car hence why I have the norm rings and color matched spoiler. I like the brushed aluminum piece and if you don't then F*** YOU! No, i'm only joking but to each their own.

Use some really fine grit sandpaper and sand the rings on the front and on the back and watch how well that strip flows then gives everything the nice brushed aluminum look

Yea that was my plan. After winter will be this and I need to get that clear bra taken off ASAP... yuck. I just hope I dont have to have my hood repainted because of that.. that would suck..

Yea just hold off till spring and see how mine hold up, and I say go vinyl you can't even tell its not paint, you've seen it in person and it looks flawless, yea mine Is matte black and ur going for a gloss look but still I think it will look badass, ill post pics soon once I get on a computer for those who don't know what my car looks like

I have always thought about painting my roof black on my Ming, but thought it would look off as the car is already a dark color.

I would say paint not vinyl. On a red car with a black roof, it will look good. Just don't paint the trim over the doors. And if your sunroof isn't tinted, I would tint that dark as well...
