    Coilover Problems Galore....

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So i have posted a few times before about adjusting my coilovers. I finally got to it and one of the adjusting collars was siezed up. nothing broke it loose, so i ended up having to cut it off and order another. after putting the new collar on, i realized with the new wheels, i would have to adjust the front. ran into another seized coilover. it will have to be cut off. I took some pics of the mess and destruction. anyone have any suggestions on how i might get it off without cutting it, throw them in. Note: i have tried all obvious methods.

here are some crappy pics from my iphone:

No ideas other than the obvious ones and cutting. All I can say is when U put them back together, scrub ALL the threads with a wire brush and run the collar up and down to make sure its smooth. Then lube it up... But DO NOT use a grease type or wet type, use a dry type silicone or graphite lube so dirt and grime doesn't stick to it

You mightve went a little too much with all that. Mine had the same problem all I did was spray some lube or wd40 and waited a few minutes gave it some more elbow grease than befor and. There it came loose for me to twist up and down. Unless yours also had screws to lock them in and you didn't loosen the little allen screws that's on it.

No there are go Allen screws. Whoever I bought the car from didn't take care of it. And I let it soak overnight it penetrant. It was just rusted bad. Elbow grease wouldn't do it. I even called a few shops and they couldn't do anything different

I tried it. You wouldn't want to heat the body of the shock, just the part you need to loosen.
