90% tint?

I just want to be legal with this one, because the rest of my car is far from it.

Go with 70% like I said that's UV so it will protect your leather and dash and i guess even your skin, and it's really not that noticeable. I just got 35% this weekend for my car and I think that is classy not too dark but dark enough for privacy. Just in case you don't know the lower the percentage (15%) the darker the higher (70%) the lighter the tint. just in case you didn't know.

You mean 10% tint, right? Tint is measured by the amount of light passed thru (VLT - Visible Light Transmittance).

E.g. limo tint is usually 5%

I know what every percent looks like, I've had everything on my cars before.

I want high light transmission. So yes, I know 5% is limo and 50% is practically not noticeable, but I want it to be legal.. that's why.. and I just want to know my options... CHP loves pulling over for tint, and they sometimes know a thing or two about cars, so my performance parts are at stake lol...

were your cars like 35% in the front and 5% in the back? in that case id say yeah your more likely to get a ticket, try 35% all around


anything higher than 35% is a waste of money imo

Chino hills.. I would rather have it 5% all around... I think 35% is a little light for the back.. plus its still noticeable to cops so they would pull you over anyway wouldn't they?

id think limo all around but the front would attract more cop attention. i got pulled over in laguna beach, RSM, newport beach... some of the toughest cops around and i dont think 35% is too light in the back, ill have to throw up some pics but i think its perfect

I thought the california tint law calls for 70% or more? either way, 60%+ is barely noticeable. Is there even a point in getting 90%?

I live in Chino Hills too and i got mine done in the spectrum..on the in n out side go to the car wash and talk to that guy..he runs his own little thing there..he did mine but not sure the %..limo all around

California Law says the TOTAL light transmittance must be 70% or more, including your windows themselves, then it goes on to say that anything you apply to the windows aftermarket must be above 88%... sucks

I have 50% all around and 70% on the windshield...have cops pull aside me all the time and they don't seem to notice or care enough to say anything...in socal too...

lol yea... but theres not a huge percentage of cops who really like modified cars, and out of those theres not many who like imports, and out of those, there are like 1 or two that like euro.. and out of those 2 guys maybe 1 of them kinda likes audi?

Rather not chance it... I roll my windows down as often as possible.

A couple weeks ago there was a Sheriff and CHP outside my car talkin about it... this was after dinner out, so where were standing around, shootin the shit. Saw them pointing out my tinted tails and such so I kept walkin like it wasn't my car... I had warrants!

FWIW it took 3 years to finally get rolled for my 20%. Since then I got 1 each last year.

I doubt you'd get pulled over with something like 50%, it's pretty much unnoticeable.

Someone said "total"? No, it's 70% front sides, no limit rear, don't touch the windshield below 4" from the top.
Tail lights? You can bump up the brightness with VAG-COM. Smoked lights are an option on some models so the function to up the brightness is there.

go to a big name tint shop, I am sure they have something you can use..but at others have said, might not be worth the money, but I understand its risky anything high.

Go for the lightest possible something higher than 35% and you will have no problem.

get 35% theres no way you'll get a lot of shit for that in an Audi unless you dress / look wayy sketchy or someting. tickets 10$, probably 50$ to put the tint back on? or less who knows. anything above 35% is a waste i think. Basically putting any tint on the front window puts it over the limit, unless it is extremely light like 90% which really isn't worth it

haha thats right there is more to it, the cop specifically told me they would send me a document so that I can have it fixed or pay a fine or whatever. Cop said I do not have to go to court or whatever for any reason. I called when I didn't get a document in the mail they said they have nothing on file for me. I then got a letter in the mail said my license was suspended and I had to pay around $350 and wait several months...
