So can you chip a supercharged car?

Thinking of the new S4, of course. Since the rotation of the charger is controlled by the engine, boost is directly related to RPM, or at least a function of it. Chipping a turbo car involves changing the boost settings (RPM, load, gearing, etc.) and boost controllers, so you can get higher PSI and it can come on earlier or later. I'd think that you don't have too many things you can change electronically on a supercharger to get more power...

chips can change timing and fuel as well ... you'd have to call the "flasher" like revo to hear what there opinion would be but i dunno im pretty sure you still could it just wouldnt affect boost ... it'd b like chipping a stock s4 i would think

I curious to see an aftermarket reduction pulley, the stock pulley is already pretty small.

Re: So can you chip a supercharged car?

Most production forced induction cars come conservatively tuned for reliability. this is why most of them take to mods so well even when untilizing the stock turbo(s) or supercharger. Like a SVT cobra, supercharged mini, or others...considerable gains are likely to be had with some relatively light modifications.

Yes, for example the 55 Kompressor AMGs (W211 E55, etc)

Re: So can you chip a supercharged car?

So I'm with you about reducing the pulley size (increases physical speed of the rotors which increases boost), and about tweaking the fuel trim (leans it out a little for greater power under full throttle), but what about just a flash? I'm just not sure you'll get much out of it...of I guess that is what I'm asking. Anyone actually own a supercharged car that they modded?

    Edit:
I just looked at Paramount Performance who does a flash for the Jaguar XKR (on of my dream cars) which is supercharged and has 420 stock hp. The flash adds 35 hp, so I guess you *can* do it, but what exactly is it doing?

Re: So can you chip a supercharged car?

Well it is changing the timing and fueling. I know that you can chip NA cars to get a little better engine performance out of them. I would guess its adds boost, but I'm still shaky about Superchargers. I think the new S4 is going to be fun, but not nearly as fun as the b5

Re: So can you chip a supercharged car?

I think that the new S4 is going to be great. Find room for a big turbo in that engine bay and have a twin-charged setup leaving the stock supercharger. I keep thinking and dreaming of this setup on the new S4. The potential for power would be awesome.
