    Clutch slip from cold?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Question: Anyone elses car making a grinding noise when the clutch is released in this cold weather? Mine makes a raw grinding noise (i assume its the clutch slipping). Once the car warms up, this noise stops. Is this really possible and how much potential damage could this cause?

The only other time ive encountered something like this, was in chicago in seriously sub 0 weather, where the clutch plate got stuck right after start up on a 350z.

Im curious to find out what this is, any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I know as far as B% guys are concerned during cold starts before warm up the gears are real tight, and mine will grind in reverse. You don't let the car warm-up alittle before you drive it?

i let the car acquire the ambient air settings and drop idle, thats typically when i drive it very easy till oil temp is normal... strange though, it did not grind at all when i left from work today...

its odd but its a serious grind when it happens... enough to draw curious looks from people...

My B6 shifts like poo until it's warmed up, no audible noise but i feel a slight grind when engaging gears... but then again, I had to replace my clutch a week after I bought the car (it never slipped or felt funny, just magically blew up) so who knows what kinda condition my tranny is in, I have 71k ont it Also after reading around on the forum about hard 1st-2nd shifting i think i may have a worn shift collar... so I baby her by letting it warm up pretty good and shifting gently in the lower RPM's
