How good are the stock tires (sport contact 2's) on snow? these tires came with my 07 s4 rims and im considering using these for the winter since the threads on them are still pretty darn good.

they should be awesome. Sport Contact 2's are famous rally car tires...specially designed for snow.

oh wait...actually the total opposite of that.

Sit and spin... better get some all-seasons at minimum, better off with snows in the Midwest.

Even All Seasons are SHITE in the snow. I had them on my B5 and went sideways a couple of times at very low speeds. Suck it up and buy good snow tires. Money well spent any way you slice it.

Re: Sport Contact 2's in snow?

i had those on my b6 a4 at the beginning of winter. the first time it snowed i was sliding through intersections. i just got some blizzaks for the winter. you need to have different summer and winter tires. don't get all seasons, they suck in the snow and they are shit in the summer.

Re: Sport Contact 2's in snow?

I have no direct experience with my S4 and winter driving but I just put on winter tires and rims. I had a TT with summer only tires and drove it through one winter. Never again. Poking along in AWD, it was still very good, but going straight at 35+ on snow...forget it. It felt like the steering wheel had come loose and I was on ice.

agreed, quattro can only do so much, but you basically have no traction at all! with plenty of low end torque, you'll slip on the start, and with no snow grip, you'll slide on the stop...just happend to me with the first two snow storms (I work redic long hours and haven't had the chance to get my winter rims & tires on the car)...going tomorrow and I can't wait!

(and btw, as far as I know, cold & ice ruin performance tires, they are not meant to be kept in such low temps, better off spending the $ and do it right...besides, your life depends on what keeps you on the road)
