Anybody have any thoughts or feelings on these cars. Not talking about the Supercharged ones, just the regular Sport. Any reliability issues, problems, positive/negative comments etc. Good friend is thinking about getting one, and I wanted to give him a little insight. I think they look great, but have heard about reliability issues with the old Land Rovers. So let me know...Thanks

The Range Sport is a great truck. The HSE is powerful enough so you dont really need the supercharged. Try to get an early 2007 Model with Under 30,000 Miles and you should make out good with maintenance and repairs.

My parents have a sport and haven't had a single problem with it. It's a great vechicle - awesome interior and arguably the best looking exterior of any SUV.

Quality may be a bit different if you're buying a used one, however. I've read bad things about higher milage Land Rovers as well, so I'd be careful.

Definately an awesome truck though - you'll never get stuck anywhere.

i test drove one with my father, the supercharge version, interior was to plasticy and too small. so he opted for the larger HSE supercharge version. From what i've read these cars are very touchy and very high maintenance.

    Re: Range Rover Sport

Good friend of mine had one for a while and never had a problem. Hell, I even drove it on the beach a couple times with the 19's and sport tires (do not stop moving). Very smooth ride and a nice interior. Paddle shifting wasn't great but it certainly was not a slouch. I liked the car a lot and was sad to see it go, but the Cayenne GTS was a a great choice of replacement.

Eh, I wouldn't really call it powerful, the supercharged with all its HP figures is still slower than my 2001 Merc ML55 where it has a lot less power..

I rember one reviewer said that the supercharged model is about as fast as a Mini Cooper, and that's not saying much.

    Re: Range Rover Sport

I had a RR Sport SC for a bit. I liked it. The only problems I had were a fuse on the supercharger, and a few flats/bent rims from those stormer wheels. Annoying problem was that you couldnt put on an 18 inch wheel over the bigger brakes for the winter. Low profile wide tires= no bueno in the snow. Seats were great for a Land Rover product. It wasnt really fast. I had a Cayenne TUrbo before it and there is NO comparison. One thing I do know is you can find them used CHEAP.

    Re: Range Rover Sport

best looking SUV ever made, hands down

best interior (like a Rolls Royce)

rock solid engine if you get the HSE

    BUT

worst cars for reliability that I've ever heard of. Everyone I know with one curses it's horrible reliability.

i.e. lady across the street has one, but I'm not kidding, for at least 20-30 days per year she drives a Jaguar x-type...the courtesy car that the Land Rover/Jaguar dealership gives her when her Sport breaks down. In her words, she loves the car when its running, but will never buy another one. The hassle is just too great.

here's the Consumer Reports unbiased summary of owner reliability surveys...black circles are bad!

great looking car, pain in the ass to maintain, think bmw/audi x2.
my buddy's range needed shock replacement, 1200 a shock.
they're everywhere in los angeles, and whenever i see a flatbed tow a range rover sport is on it 90% of the time.
in the end i'd buy one under warranty...extended warranty.

Anyone else notice that our forum member took the pics of the car and it was posted here earlier

    http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=246364

Anyways always liked the S/C version of the car, never knew it was bad in the reliability, wit that said you should get one under warranty.

my friends parents have a Range Rover HSE and everytime you get in, the electronic tilt on the steering wheel squeezes the wheel up against your legs for some stupid reason. The dealership couldn't figure out what's wrong with it and said, well I guess that's the way it's supposed to be. They are really nice cars, just garbage reliability.
