Yeah but i wouldn't run this without S3 injectors and a fuel pump upgrade. Then you need a custom tune to make everything work. It looks nice though. Looks like they're using GT28 or the good ole disco potato (GT28RS). Who does custom tunes cause this might be a cheaper alternative to K04 kits from APR and Stasis plus you'll have more power.

Looks good to me. I can do $2k for a turbo upgrade but I could never force myself to fork over $4k+ for a measly k04.

FYI, those dyno numbers are uncorrected.

The thing is with the APR K04 you're getting injectors and fuel pump as well...its not as barebones as this kit...and I'd have to think that you'd need at the very least upgraded pump with this kit or you'll run into trouble.

i think that it is a great product. i think that i will get it, i figure with the FMIC and the full exhaust i am getting i feel that i will get better numbers.. i will do the awe fuel pump upgrade, and find the right injector combo. i also like the numbers, but i do wonder how the power is applied.

I'm guessing those graphs are wheel horsepower since 177whp is pretty standard for a chipped car. Chips are supposed to be around 230-250hp at the crank...

Also, it looks like this kit runs out of breath just like the stock K03. This is pretty understandable since you're just replacing the internals of the stock turbo... I guess the inlets can't let enough air in to keep it spooling until red line? The dyno's between this kit and APR's kit look pretty similar except the APR kit keeps pulling after 5k RPM's. However, it's only another "claimed" 15hp than this kit. In conclusion I would say that this kit looks like a pretty cheap and easy way to add some good hp numbers... Now who's going to pony up and test it??

Lets not forget software. Also, don't be fooled, the ED30/S3 k04 is not your grandfathers dinky turbo any more. The 2.0T K04's are rather large. ;)

    Why would we need software?

"Kit comes with all parts required to "bolt-on" and run including stock turbine manifold/turbine housing (customer provided) modified to accept Garrett rotation assembly,"

sorry to steel your thunder APR, but this is just a better bargain for those wanting more power.

Cause what you are buying is just a modified turbo, you need bigger injectors, proper software and fuel pump to run it Properly.

"This is a great conversion for customers who want a decent amount of power but want the engine bay to remain stock-like and stealthy while keeping the other components such as engine block, clutch, fuel system, intercooler, exhaust system, etc. relatively stock. Due to the extremely efficient Garrett wheel combination, we are able to reach 350 crank HP @ 18 psi of boost while still running the stock exhaust (mated to our 3" racepipe made for the stock turbo), stock intercoolers, and stock injectors."

I'm crossing my fingers that atp will scrap this idea and make a full eliminator series (oxymoron I know) compatible with the stock mani using 28-30 series and revo will make files for it.

edit: realize this is their attempt at an eliminator series, but the stock manifold should go for larger turbine housings

You are still going to at least need a new fuel pump and the software to make the kit reach those numbers. A fuel pump is definitely necessary since there are so many fuel cut issues with these cars at the Stage 1 and Stage 2 levels... A custom tune will also necessary so you have the right fueling and airflow to reach their claimed 350hp. A custom tune will get pretty pricey unless ATP has one that has not been listed... From what I understand, custom tunes are anywhere from 1-2k.

I agree 100% with you that the kit will probably require a new HPFP but so will anyone running a flashed B7.

As far as the custom tune goes it may require that but I will call them to clarify because they are saying that they are using the stock K03 flash.

on the top of the dyno sheets, it says that these are running on 3" test pipe, stock exhaust, K03 flash, and everything else stock.

Sounds like the perfect(and cheap) upgrade for us chipped folks.

Without a tune, the car will not perform any differently. You need to flash the ECU to let it know it can make significantly more power.

Ahhh I passed over where it says that it has a normal K03 flash on the dyno sheet. That would be pretty cool if you could use your standard Revo, APR, GIAC, etc flash. Although I don't see a standard flash getting the most out of the turbo's potential. I mean think about how most companies have stage 1 and stage 2 flashes. They have the different flashes to accomodate other supporting mods such as exhaust, intake, fuel pumps etc. The stage 2 flashes basically just increase fueling, timing, etc... I guess what I'm trying to say is that I don't see how you can utilize a more efficient turbo without a tune/flash specifically made for it to get the right timing and fueling specs to make 350hp (100hp more than what most stage 1 flashes claim). But I guess that's something that whoever is thinking about purchasing the kit will have to ask ATP about! Ha, I'm just on the sidelines speculating and nay-saying

You need to stop believing everything you read. People get fuel cut issues with just stage 2 gear. I'm thinking it'd be even worse with this kit. If you believe in this kit so much, buy it and find out what its all about so the rest of us can see what happens.

I also cant believe that this kit doesnt require exhaust. I find it hard to believe that you get those numbers CONSISTENTLY without a proper exhaust.

ATP make great kits and are very reputable.. i doubt there is any "fail" in it.

Looks possible, i really worry about making it work well for our engines without a proper tune. Perhaps revo with the select plus would make it more tunable?

ATP did this with their B5 BT kits too...and suggested using the Mika sw (which sucked). So I'm sure this is the same deal...you can buy the hardware and then get custom tuning. There is no way a stg1/2 chip will support the additional air/fuel requirements for maximising this set-up. It might run...but not well.

If it were that easy...APR, AWE and Stasis would not have spent all their time and money researching and developing their own stg3 BT kits.
