    Re: Tensioner bolts...

They are a specific bolt type but a hardened 6mm metric thread bolt the correct length would be a fine replacement IMO

N90945001 is the part number for the tensioner bolts

World Impex has them, but it might take a few days for them to get to you. You can ask the dealership for that part # also

the timing belt was done at 55k by orginal owner which was done by a shop here in houston, (won't post his shop name) but when i did my timing belt there was no tensioner,(so i just put new waterpump and timing belt didn't have bolts for tensioner so i couldn't put the new one on) apparently this shop (which will remain nameless) does not the put the tensioner back on... keep cost done? lazy? it works with out it?
but anyways when i did my clutch the shop said that he has seen alot of cars that come in with no tensioner from the other shop, and advise me to put it on as soon as possible b/c you run the risk of the belt skipping... and screwing things up

    WHAT??

There was no gas tensioner, period!?! You are damn lucky you did not skip a tooth on the belt and/or bend any valves.

    Re: Tensioner bolts...

Honestly for stuff like small misc. bolts just go to the dealer. They'll have it in stock and its not like they can overcharge you by much when the total cost is $3. My dealership has very competitive pricing for most parts.

this makes no sense to me at all . . . this shop you speak of does poor work. You always put the a new tensioner on when you replace the timing belt . . . whatever their logic is regarding not putting a new one in, they are wrong. It comes that way for a reason . . .

I guess if you move the roller over enough it will keep enough tension

They don't even have the right eccentric idler pulley in there. That pulley is from another vehicle.
