Decided today I was going to get off my lazy ass and scrape the car's windows and try to get it out. Running new summer tires, with about 8" of snow so I think this may be an epic failure.



*Tried to get snow tires but every thing within a 25 mile radius was sold out. If anyone has a set of studded snow tires in the range of 205/55/16-215/55/16 in the Oregon area let me know. If they're mounted on rims that works too.*

Ya I don't plan on taking it on the road. Just wantin to see if I can make it through deep snow.

Made it out like nothing. Due to how low my car is my bumper pretty much just plowed the snow while my tires pushed it. In the video they have quiet a bit more ice than we do. I spun a little bit, but over all didn't have too much of a problem.

Say what? I saw that video over the weekend, the driver must have been on summers or something. Even with hills sheesh.

You've all seen this shot already, but it says enough. I've been through much deeper than that, but that shot is particularly special cause it's all Sierra Cement and a bit old and heavy. Driver ability and experience helps a lot.

last year at my work(ski resort) it snowed 2 1/2' during the day. my car, quattro on snowtires and coilovers chugged through the snow like nothing.

The snow has nothing to do with it. The glare ice under it is the problem.

yea even in snow you get some sort of traction at low speeds. that had to have been on ice under snow, and even with studded tires, and especially on a hill like that, ice is tricky for anyone.

You don't slide sideways at 2mph on snow. Ice like that is like air hockey, once in motion you stay that way until sharing some momentum with another object.
