Question about getting rid of CAI

Hey guys, I'm really sorry if this question has been answered already. I tried searching but the keywords I'd search for bring up such a large amount of threads.

I'm currently running a Dahlback 290HP kit w/software, super K04, etc. When the kit was installed a Dahlback CAI was also put in. Due to the fact that cops hate CAIs and we've been having decent rainy days, I'm looking to go back to the OEM airbox at least for now.

My question is does that kit need to have the CAI or will it run fine off the OEM airbox? If it will be fine on OEM, do you think I need to mod the airbox the allow more air in. I'm just really concerned about getting water in there.

Again, I'm really sorry if this has come up before. If someone can give a simple quick answer it would be appreciated.

Re: Question about getting rid of CAI

I dont think anyone is going to be overly familiar here with the Dahlback setup specifically but the stock airbox has shown to flow just as much if not more than many aftermarket intakes even with BT's pushing 300whp+. I would go back to the stock airbox and switch the filter out for a K&N

Great advice. Thanks a ton. I picked up a K&N drop in over the weekend. Now I'm just trying to decide if I need to mod the airbox at all to get even more airflow.

This is basically what I figured but if anyone strongly disagrees please feel free to give your input.

You're unlikely to hear much opposition to running the stock airbox. Like Shawn said, the factory air box is very efficient.
