    ignition issues

I've had my B6 for just under a year with 50k on it. Ran fine all winter last winter. This year, I am experiencing a prblm w/ the ignition (thought it could be the anti-theft sys at first, but after removing that the prblm persisted).

I hear a mechanical sound coming from inside the dash somewhere, but apart from that, there seems to be a breach in connection between the ignition and motor as the motor makes no sound or attempt to start. This usually happens in the cold and only 1 in 5 times.

any thoughts as to why and how to fix?

    thx

    Re: ignition issues

There are a bunch of threads about this. Alot of the people find its the starter. I have the same problem, but if I turn the key slow, I can hear a "click" noise from the driverside firewall. I can "jiggle" the key to make it click. After making it click 3-5 times, it starts. I found this http://www.2carpros.com/forum/2005-a...-vt206980.html

Im going to try this first instead of the starter.

It Is Your Starter Bro. Had The Same Problem Several Weeks Ago. Took It To Audi And The Problem Is Fixed. It Gets Worse As The Weather Gets Colder. It Is Definitely Your Starter..

    ^ How much?

I'm going to join the cold start issue club. I figured I'd start with the battery...

...or maybe the starter. We'll see.

There Are Several Thread Stating The Cost, But Mine Was Covered Under The Cpo Warranty. I'll Look For The Receipt And Repost When I Get Home.

Did you ever find that receipt?

I took it in to my local shop. They're saying $280-ish for a new starter (but they aren't even certain that's the issue).

    My car only starts, sometimes.

    Re: ignition issues

Still haven't fixed mine... It's been fine for the past few weeks. (27-38 degrees, started right up)

For the past week, it's been acting up again. It's been 45 degrees plus, and it's having the issues.
