Fun in snow is expensive (Part request)

So Audi could easily act as a plow with ability to effectively grab and hold snow (later ice).
After some fun in the snow (more like mix of ice and melted snow) I noticed some weird noises. First came from fenderwell. Took fog grills off and found tons of ice there and on bellypan. Drove and heard rubbing, didn't see it at first but today I looked under and noticed that entire plastic on the driver side (that goes on both side of driveshaft to rear diff. is broken off on holds barely on the outer edge giving me nice rubbing noise.
Anybody knows the part number for that and how much does it cost?
I was just thinking of ripping that thing away and call it a day till end of the winter. What does it protect?

I need those two circled pieces plus associated screws.

Mine is also broken on both sides up near the jack points. Been that way since I bought the car, I think it's from sloppily placing the lift arms. I would not leave it off all winter, as it is there for protection.

Please post up the part number/price once you find out. I'll be heading to the dealer tonight for PS fluid, I'll try to get some info about it then if the parts guy has time.

Same thing happened to me last year. The front part of the belly pan actually broke and scooped up so much snow that my car got squirrelly going down the highway! It was pretty much trying to high center me. I ripped it off when I got home. I've been thinking about fabbing up some aluminum to replace it.

I don't have a lift and I don't want to use "suicide jack" to lift a car, especially since it's all iced around, do you remember if they're just normal screws holding it, so I can use a screw driver to take that damned thing out.

Why? Other than a little rust on the bends there isn't anything wrong with his exhaust....

Are you referring to the plastic cover that spans from the firewall back to infront of the rear wheels? It covers the unibody (mainly the brake lines)??

I think small washer nut thingies hold it on, they might be 8mm?

    I did quick ETKA look,
part five was listed for like $35 + 20% dealer fee
I have no clue about the bolts, this picture isn't too clear for me.

Re: Fun in snow is expensive (Part request)

yeah. part 5 is the whole belly pan for the unibody on that side.

those bolts are 8mm with a 10mm hex head. ie: use a 10mm socket to pull them off. the bolts are molded into the unibody and the nuts are plastic.

ps. how come your ETKA shows a big ass picture? mine is super small and the text takes up most of my screen. i wonder if its because i don't have a widescreen monitor. i just print the images and text to pdf in order to look at it more detail...

Re: Fun in snow is expensive (Part request)

I have no clue about etka, mine was almost like that. I just called the dealer and they quoted me $105 for the part. Asked him for part number to confirm, asshole said that he can't give it over the phone.
I checked with riverside and it matches MSRP and supposedly includes all fasteners

I checked genuinevwaudi and they list at 72 + 8 shipping

Anyway, the left/right, means drivers/passengers side?
Any more ideas of where else can I look?

Happened to me several years ago. I was driving a B5.5 Passat (which we all know is the VW version of the B5/B6 A4s). I drove over a big rock that was buried under snow. Tore open the oil pan and one catalytic converter. Whole thing cost a bundle. Thank goodness the insurance covered it.

Re: Fun in snow is expensive (Part request)

I guess that piece is held by screw in the end, here is what I pulled out so far:

    Lovely, isn't it?
You can see nice chunk scrapped off on the highway. No more rubbing noise. The back piece is still attached. Hopefully with screws, it can be put back on.
But here is interesting story. I called local dealer, he said they don't have any more left in stock now and WANT 180 for it!! GenuineVWAudi emailed me that they increased shipping cost by $20 and they still didn't reply, I need it by wednesday, that day car will be on lift. I'm going that night on road trip to the snow region so it will be good thing to have. Damn it

I have an idea, can I get some staples and reattach the broken parts, also how does the other side attach to the frame? Also 10mm ?
