My alternator is crapping out and im trying to find the a cheaper place to buy one. A local parts store wanted $285 for one and i think thats a little over price. My original alternator is a Valeo, 120A.

autozone has one for $180 after core on their site, it's 120A, dosent list the brand.

In the end, deals are very hard to come by in the automotive world, and you get what you pay for 90% of the time.

$285 sounds like a good price for a valeo.

you have to replace the one u have with the same name brand. its either bosch or valeo but they have different fitments. i replaced mine before and the one they gave me wouldnt fit. 285 sounds steep. i'd shop around a bit more. i bouth mine with a lifetime warranty for 140 from a local parts shop
    2000 A4 1.8tq

    Running only on Amsoil fluids.
Amsoil products at wholesale pricing... Ask me how!

It was a bosch replacement for the valeo, and it was $285.

What was the name of the part store that you bought your alternator from?

Alternators are unfortunately a hit and miss given most are rebuilt now days. My advice on whatever you go with. Go to an autozone and have them bench test it before you install it. I bought 3 alternators in a row that all ended up being bad out of the box....
At least they were on my 280z and were simple to get at. Still a pain....
