    Which HID setup??

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
theres a few threads floating around right now on HIDs, but not exactly on what im trying to figure out...

im gonna buy a HID conversion kit soon for both headlights and fogs.. just dont know which color combination to go with...

i either want to make both heads and fogs the same in 4300k, 5000k, or 6000k

    OR

mix 4300k/5000k in the headlights with 3000k(yellow) in the fogs.. thought this would look pretty neat with the blacked out car.

    OR

mix 6000k in the headlights with the whiter 4300k or 5000k in the fogs

anybody have any pics of their setups in these combinations??

looks like im probably gonna go with the VVME company...

if u don't have OEM xenon housings then buy some and use OEM HID's don't put HID's in halogen housings.

    Re: Which HID setup??

i've had H.I.Ds on my car for a few months now with halogen housings and haven't really had any problems with other drivers or cops for that matter. plus to mention a bunch of my friends have H.I.D.s with halogen housings on their cars as well and haven't had problems either.

i also have HIDs on stock halogen housing and there has been no problem with them. the beam is clear and crisp and they look nice enuff for me to not spend the extra $____ on OEM HID housings. (not really sure how much they cost...)

    [QUOTE=santinod15;3182178]....why?[/QUOTE

I agree with. There's no problem to run a HID kit. The only problem is the lens for you halogen "ARE NOT DESIGN" for the brighter, clear, powerfull bean pattern of HID. I bought my car with an HID kit as soon as I had a change I bought a real HID housing eCode.

There's a tread about it. I just don'r remeber where.

    Re: Which HID setup??

To tell you the truth, you can buy OEM housing in FS section for relatively cheap.
Do some research, there was a good link showing the difference between retrofit and OE solution for HID. Maybe the difference isn't that big for you but it is noticeable. We're lucky to have projector lens, so that's why people can run HID in halogen housing. It is not recommended and is illegal (your chance of getting fined is probably as high as winning lottery).

i'll be keeping that in mind as i progress through with the mods for the car...i wanted ecodes but getting laid off work and having other expenses, i couldnt afford to fork out the cash at the time for a pair of ecodes.

I didn't plan on HID ecodes, my headlights got destroyed and I needed new set, so I forked a bit more and got complete set. Some people land some sick deals.

I have HIDs in halogen housings and mine do not look like that at all. There is definitely a clear cutoff.

THat's not really a fair comparison.

    Here is the key:
well after a looooong day i am finally done with the conversion putting my stock xenon projectors, bulbs and ballasts into the halogen ebay ecodes.
They look like Depo projectors, which are marginal at best in terms of quality & beam pattern.

the Valeo 2.5" H7 projectors is one of the few projectors that is actually a little forgiving when it comes to a Plug & Play kit. The lack-thereof foreground is a weakness in the Valeo projector design

    Re: Which HID setup??

Sorry but those pictures posted above are not from an OEM A4 Halogen light, but from some aftermarket headlight. I installed the HIDS in my halogens and they are perfect, crisp, and not blinding at all. They have been tested on the road with other friends and they said they were perfect. I have yet to be flashed and IMO they are just as good as the Xenons at a fraction of the cost.

BTW - on my halogens, it says Valeo D1S/H7 and comes with the ballast mounting on the headlight as well. I think they are the same, just the cheaper version got the halogens and the expensive got the xenon package.

    To each is own.

the projector is different at the back where it holds either the H7 bulb or the D1S bulb/ignitor

6k all around. The stock halogen projectors have a cutoff that sort of looks like a set of stairs going up from left to right. This is so your beam is slightly lower so you don't blind oncoming traffic. Your only wasting your money on buying xenon housings.
