Is it ok to run any other kind of trans fluid in the tip cars other than that crap audi calls for?

the 'crap' audi uses is better than Mercon V and Dexron VI, which are *brand new* fluids.

    Re: Transmission fluid

ze germans know their fluids. either that or they just want to make it so you have to buy their fluid. at any rate if you put anything else in there you will be sorry and it will cost you more then the correct fluid would have.

just like Mercon and Dexron products, the newest audi ATF supercedes older revisions, so if it says ATF, you're good.

ok cool, thanks. I was looking at using redline atf, but i was worried it would mess up the trans.

as long as it's changed it dosen't really matter for solenoid transmissions at these power levels.

Use the Audi fluid, you don't need anything else unless you have a level 10 built trans.

    Re: Transmission fluid

You say you got 5 of them containers...eh
you will need 7 to do a service on that transmission
BTW, don't feel so bad, the newer 6 speed automatics take a fluid that costs about 70 DOLLARS per liter and they also take about 7 liters.
First time I put an estimate together fo a tranny service on a C6 chassis and it came to just barely shy of a grand to do a service on that thing. And the fluid is a weird blue color.
