I think I screwed up my right headlight wiring

I installed my Ecodes last weekend, and I had to rewire the cable going to the housing, since it's not long enough to reach the ecode light. Everything was fine except for the turn signal not working. Then Friday my right headlight went out. The city light works, and the high beam is fine. Just the low beam is out. Between this and the turn signal, I decided to pull the light out today and play with it. Well, I wiggled and played with the wires going to the headlight with everything on, and nothing changed. Took the D1S out and put a spare in, and nothing changed. Swapped the turn signal bulb holder and bulb between sides and the left light works fine, just as it did before. The right is still bad, so I know it's not the bulb or bulb holder. I even swapped my US xenon headlight back in and still no joy. The only thing I can think of is that I've either screwed up the wiring, which worked immediately after I installed the lights, or the ballast has gone bad. I have also been getting serious fogging in the right headlight. Now I'm gonna have to take it to a shop to get the problem sorted out, and I work nights, so I'm sure I'll get pulled over for having a light out. I really can not figure this out...

The headlight wire is White with a Yellow stripe.

    White/yellow

Check to make sure that one is the one that you have wired into the wiring harness.

Also, depending on how you decided to extend these wires, you may have crossed them and burnt out the fuse.

    Check the fuse first.
If the fuse is out, chances are you had a short.
if fuse is intact, then you might have a grounding issue, not a crossed wire issue.

In either case, you will want to pull the harness and check all your wire connections/extensions.

How did you extend the wires?

    Soldering?
    Cable butt connectors?
    Twist and tape?

I would vouch for #1. Soldering. That's the only way to do it correctly.

    This is what I did.

    solder wires together.
Shrink wrap it with wiring shrink wrap
Check to make sure all the lights works. If yes,
then tie it up with thermal tape. It gets hot in there. Bare wires will likely melt because the wire insulation gets hot and can get brittle
After thermal tape, run a length of wire shroud tubing. The kind that is black and has ribs. it opens up along one seam (lengthwise) to allow you to shove the wiring inside.

OK, after swapping parts around and testing the wiring, bulbs, etc., I know it's a balast now. Anyone know where to find a good deal on 5GL balasts?
