    Turbo Boost Gauge Install VMR

I went to the place I normally go to, to get upgrades and installs, they are asking for 280$ to install a Boost Gauage saying it will take 2 hrs which means 140$ an hour. This seems kind of insane. It would seem more reasonable under the 200$ range. Agreed?

Re: Turbo Boost Gauge Install VMR

boost gauge shouldn't take more than about an hour and a half by an amateur. pros, or people that have done them before should be able to knock it out in about 45 mins. most of that time will be taken up by removing the ecu cover, and removing the lower half of the dash (under the steering wheel). fishing the line to the vent may also be a little tricky, but there are walkthroughs online.

other than that, it's pretty straight forward.

Yeah, you should be able to do it yourself... It's not too hard. It took me a while do to mine, but I didn't really know what I was doing. Although, if you don't feel comfortable doing it, I wouldn't pay more than $100-$125 for the install.

Jay, did you get yours installed yesterday at the meet?

You don't need to open the ECU, just run the tubes through the firewall into the intake manifold. FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS. It's very simple.

Re: Turbo Boost Gauge Install VMR

install is straight forward. When Don and I installed my VMR gauge, it was not complicated at all. If you have tools (10mm socket, screw driver, etc) you should be able to do it. If you need some guidance shoot me a pm and ill help you out.

Install should take no more than 1 hr (if you never taken anything apart before)

if you take the ecu cover off (black plastic panel on the upper right hand corner of your engine bay) there's a hole that will lead right behind your dash. i'll see if i can post a picture later.

here are the instructions i used (it's for a podi column pod, but you'll get the point)

Do the install yourself, it's not that difficult. Don @ VMR helped do mine, but I had him do it because I was worried I'd mess something up, but while watching him do the install I realized how easy it really is. You just need some patience and a few simple tools.

$280 to install that gauge is a rip!!!

removing the ecu cover is not required, but it makes the install a lot easier, and a lot cleaner.

i concur..with almost all the previous statements. give it a shot..it's not hard. You will be much more satisfied after you complete it then paying someone else to do the work. It took me a little over an hour because I didnt know how to get the cover on the steering on and off.
