weird bad idle/stalling problems

I'm having some fun with a vette on 95, WOT doing about 100, and the car stalls out. I turn it back on and its really rough, and shuts off when I give any throttle. I pull over assuming I've blown an IC hose. Take the front bumper off and check all the hoses, they're good. Still the car will start up, idle like crap and then bog down and stall if I try to go anywhere.

I unplug the MAF and the car works fine. I drive it home, assuming the MAF is done. Swap out MAFs and it doesn't solve my problem. I actually swapped out for two just to make sure.

I checked my IC hoses again and everything is on snug. I have the hitachi MAF on my 2001.5 with 89,000 miles. I haven't replaced my N75 so some are thinking that's the problem.

Any ideas? Buddy VAGed it but his laptop ran out of batteries before we had time to store them.

My guess is huge boost leak. I would try tbb see if there is tear there.

Pressure test car for sure. If its a real rough idle, I would say leak somewhere

whats the boost gauge say pressure is when idling?

TBB is good, I have a samco one and I checked it.

The boost is fine when idling but the max I get when driving is like 6psi. I'll try and smoke test tomorrow to make sure that's not the problem, but I've tripple checked all the hoses and they look fine.

It really does sound like you just blew a hose off.

another thought is to check dv's I know when I had a problem with a dv it woudlnt idle for crap and dashboard lit up like a christmas tree.

I've been trying to do some searches of similar threads to try and find you an answer, but nothing so far.

also i'm not a big fan of smoke test, it did nothing for me. I think pressure testing with some soapy water is the way to go. if i find any info i'll PM you.

ben has a compressor and a smoke machine. we fill it with smoke and then pressure test. that way we can listen and look for leaks.

i'm gonna talk to him tomorrow about it and see what i can do.

mark - all they need is lips, and apparently you can rent a machine to do that so we'll have to get that when we do yours. to be honest, this was the first hose to come off in a few months after i upgraded the few crappy clamps i had.

thats what i use. i have a crush bender at my shop that has an expander on it, an when i did my IC pipes i just expanded the ends a little so it was real tight.... ghetto bead roller but it works

gotta be careful tho because the aluminum pipes tear real easy on the expander
