Well we are getting a nasty cold spell here right now and the temperature has been -30 to -34 CELCIUS!!! yep damn ass cold!!

anyways today i start my car to warm it up and i smell gas so i pop the hood and the injector is leaking gas all over the place.. not super fast but its leaking!!

the engine warmed up and the leak stops and all is fine

i'm thinking because its so damn cold the O-rings have contracted causing the leak..

should I replace the injectors or buy new O-rings?

no they just leak when cold.. as soon as the engine bay warms up after even a minute or two they stop leaking and its fine..

but now my engine bay smells like a lawnmower or something bah! i'm calling my dealer to get new orings for all 6 injectors..

    install seems pretty easy..

aha yea i'm not driving the car until i replace the orings.. the gas stops leaking after about 1-2 minutes of the car warming up.. if it was leaking with the engine hot i'd be insane to drive= death by car fire lol and 1 sad b5 owner

I had and still have the same problem with my car. This happened to me last winter. I went to the dealer immediately and bought orings (some ridiculous price too.) Replaced them all myself in a really cold garage only to have the same problem reoccur. The next day I flatbedded my car to a shop and they could not duplicate my leak. Then again this year it's happening again. Maybe if I had done the repair in a heated garage the rings would have seated properly. I dunno. Havent had any fires yet. *Knock on wood. haha. Hope that helps somehow.

Re: Cold weather and leaky injectors!!!?? :(

Make sure you lube the oring when installing otherwise they can be damaged when pushed into the fuel rail. Your new orings might have been damaged. The fuel leak could also be your fuel inlet line. Sometimes they leak at the crimp when it's really cold out.

I was having that same problem with mine s4. It was -34 c here in northern British Columbia and I went to warm up the car the other day, and all I could smell was gas. But hey now I have an idea where to start looking. But same thing once it warmed up, it was fine, no smell.

Re: Cold weather and leaky injectors!!!?? :(

yea.. easy fix.. took about 30 minutes.. leaked on me today once i boosted until i found that one of the fuel rail bolt/screws wasn't done up tight enough so a 2 minute fix did some hard driving and 0 issues

i'll see what it does if it hits -30 again this winter again.. i hope it doesn't leak thats kinda scary

no.. when i installed the new orings gas shot out of all 6 and i realized you need to take the gas cap out and it will relieve the pressure..

once reinstalled.. i just turned the key to acc.. and then waited 10 seconds and started it and it was a bit rough for a second then was fine
