car is bouncing/vibrating?

yesterday i was out messing around in the snow and after doing a donut as i was driving to a friends house i noticed a vibrating or hoping while i was driving. i pulled over to see if anything was stuck underneth the car but nothing. i started driving again and noticed it usually happens in either 3rd through 6th gear. one of my friends said my transmition is "hunting" or not totally in gear or something like that but i dont know. what do you guys think it is? and how do i fix it? thanks

i thought so also but i checked every wheel and got off as much snow and ice as i could and it still does it

Unless you hit something, I don't know what else it could be. You may have to take the wheels off and check. Ice and snow get back there and really throw the balance of the wheels off.

yeah sorry i completely spelt that wrong lol. its the stock transmission never rebuilt or anything as far as i know

I think he means 6spd or tip, I'm assuming you are a 6spd, since you said it does it in 6th gear.

I'm with mholme, it's GOTTA be snow/ice buildup. It hides, and you never think it's actually the cause, and then it is.

If you're really concerned about it, you could get a full car wash to clear everything off. Just make sure the whole car is dry, and to wipe down ALL the door seams etc., and also to clear as much snow off as possible before the wash.

Then get on the highway and play with the gears and see if you've got any shake/symptoms remaining.

If your manual tranny is "hunting" for gears you got bigger problems. Im going with snow build up or you lost one of your wheel weights, throwing off your tires balance.

If you're friend is right (I have my doubts though) then your clutch is slipping..

Just floor it in each gear and see if the clutch slips at all anywhere (revs climbing but not parallel to speed incrementation) to find out.

its a snow/ice mixture in your wheels mine did the same thing today, its built up nehind your rear wheels most likely cause i checked mine and it was all inside, clean that shit up youll be fine

Yeah I got scared the same way too. No noise at first but when I'd turn or hit a slight bump or anything it started bumping/rubbing. Took me a min to figure it out

I was doing doughnuts in my A4 the other day and same thing happened i just got out cleaned the wheels with my hands as much as i could and it was fine after that.

I had snow behind the spokes that you couldnt even see from the front.

I was doin 70 yesterday and I though my dash was gonna fall into my lap!!

Broke all that ice off and bam now I could do 100 nice and smooth..

I still heart snow though!

You have ice or snow build up in your wheel. Take it to a car wash and blast out your wheels with hot water.

i had some massively snowpacked rims also. caused a nice shimmy above 50mph. cleaned the wheels out in like 10 minutes, and problem solved. then i cracked my bumper

HA, I had the same problem the other day too. I thought I jacked my shit up when I got her stuck with my summer tires :P Ooops.
The car shook so bad I sounded like Aaron Neville when I spoke. ;)
