my minimum oil light came up, so i went to pep boys and advanced to get oil, but nobody carries 5w40 synthetic racing oil... is that the right one or did the people at audi gave me the wrong info...
also how much more oil do I have when it says minimum?
and are there any other synthetic oil i can use until i go to audi, maybe 5w30 or 10w 30

    Re: oil?

On my car I know when it says minimum its almost completely done. I used Mobil 1 European car formula (pretty sure thats what it was called), im not sure if the R8 needs a crazier oil but those specifications sounds pretty close.

you can always go to any audi dealership and they will top you off right one the spot

id take care of this asap!

Honestly I dont really know a thing about the R8 except i'd kill my family for one.
but am I the only one that thinks its a bad thing for a brand new R8 to have low oil?? get to the dealer as soon as possible... please...for the sake of the people who would kill for an r8...

Once you become a FSI owner.... continously topping off the oil becomes second nature

There is nothing special about it meeting 505.00 spec.

The regular Syntec 5w40 meets 505.00 spec.

    Re: oil?

    There are 2 505 specs.

Both of them, BTW, are diesel specs.

    505.00
505.01 = which basically has some more anti-wear additives to minimize camshaft wear for the Pumpe Duse injectors.

Unfortunately, GC 0w30 only meets 505.00, not the 505.01, which you may be thinking of. The RS6 in the US required 505.01 oil also
