Window Tint - Advice Needed (%? Huper Optik?)

I was thinking of adding a light/medium tint to my silver S4, and wanted help with some info.

1. what % is legal here in Ontario? front side/rear side etc.

2. does anyone know anything about Huper Optik equipped shops around the area? (oakville/mississauga) Not sure if its common or not. Supposed to be excellent compared to regular tints.

3. what is reasonable cost-wise for
a) Huper Optik
b) regular window tint

fronts are 35% rears 20%. At least thats what i have and its legal. Of course front driving windshield isn't allowed.

I think the province of ontario the rule of thumb is that the officer has to be able to without strain see you make eye contact...so in a nut shell, it's up to the cop to call whether it's legal or not.

Any window coating that obscures clear vision of the interior is illegal.... That being said all tint can be deemed illegal especially at night.

A friend of mine who's a cop told me this once. Pretty much its up to the officer. If he wants to be a dick, he can give you a ticket for any tint at all.

Yeah everyone's pretty much right, I was at the OPP station once for an accident report and I asked a cop about the subject what is legal. The answer was nothing that was dark so the cop couldn't see who or what was inside. It's for the safety of cops so they don't pull over someone and walking up the person pulls out a gun but they can't see until the window rolls down. Then she told me "However it's up to the discretion of every cop what they think is too dark" so I planned to get something that was dark enough that you could still inside and if I got a ticket I do what I ALWAYS do with tickets FIGHT IT

Exactly, if you want it legal don't put anything on the front windows.

That said, for a silver car I'd go 50% on all windows and be done. Its light enough you will never have any problems but cuts out the heat/uv and looks really good.

i contacted huper-optik this past summer asking for the closest authorized dealer to toronto and they gave me one in london. i guess nobody in toronto does this stuff.

here in vancouver ive had all my cars blacked out even if i got pulled over. Honnestly its got its goods

1 accident the film will hold the glass
2. keeps the heat out in the summer
3. protects the leather and all from uv rays.
4. Looks nice if done right!

On my car i have Limo tint in the rear 5% and 28% in the front.

Lol, funny story.. the other night i was going thru a drink n drive road block.. had my window down. officer asked if i had anything to drink.. i said nothin.

Then he looks at my rear window and try's to look in like 5 times with his flashlight.
i tell him its limo tint good luck tryin to look in, no theres no open bottles in the back. theres nothing in the car.

hes like well can you roll up your front window please... hes like is it tinted?
i answer why yes it is!
he tells me well you know thats illegal and you can get a big ticket
i tell him yeah i know its ok... hes like well you cant have it on there.. im like i know..
ive had all my cars tinted for Protection!

and hes like ahh ok well have a good night.

PS DONT GET ANY QUEER TINT... no mirror shit, no frost blue, hot pink, fog light yellow, stupid shit... either black it out or get the luxury light blue tint.. then post pics once its done. take a before and after.

I drive a B7 S4...WTF are you thinking telling me NOT to get pink window tint? Give me some credit. Why not tell me to NOT use black paint and a roller to tint my windows while you're at it.

Are you dead set on Huper Optik? The Detailing Shop in Newmarket uses Formula ONE ceramic tint and a few people in various Audi Canadian forums have very good things to say about them.

i've had 5% limo tint all around for a while now on a black on black car

I had 20 all around years ago... it was too dark for my liking.
Then I went 35 all around, and it was perfect. I don't like the look of having the rears darker than the fronts.

My current car has no tint, though I do want to get it done with 35 this spring. If I ever get pulled over at night, I'll roll all 4 windows down. If he asks why, I'll tell him I have a light tint, but figured I'd make it easy on him as I've got nothing to hide. Usually if you respect the police, they respect you.

And as for the 'type' of tint... I've had a bluish tint before, and a brownish tint before. They all look black, until you're in the car looking out... I hated the bluish one. The bronze (titanium, I think it was called) was much nicer.
