    Red face drivers door stuck?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
As the title subtly hints, my drivers door wont open. It is stuck from the outside, but I can open it from the inside.

When I pull the handle (the outside handle) its as if the door is locked and won't move. I just feel like I'm about to rip the door handle off.

The only way I can open the door right now is to climb in from another door and open the drivers door from the inside. Yes, its quite awkward.

    Anyone got any ideas/tips/tricks/solutions?

    Re: drivers door stuck?

Its really weird....this happened to me last week randomly.....couldn't get into the car. Had to climb in from the passenger side. But about an hour later, it just STOPPED happening, and hasn't happened since. I drove around for about an hour, and things were back to normal.....real weird tho

Why thank you for the comment.

As for the window idea... I never thought of it. But doesn't that roll down ALL the windows?

    Anyone have any other solutions?

And yes, the car lives outside. My garage was built for car's from the 40's and 50's (aka its little).

    Re: drivers door stuck?

So I tried the window trick. Only my front passenger's window opens. In case you aren't a rocket scientist, that means the windows are frozen.

So with that new evidence. Do you guys think the outside handle door opening mechanism is frozen?

    Re: drivers door stuck?

I would suggest its frozen as the entire north east is covered in snow and below freezing. Or like what happened to my driver side door handle actually broke the hook thing that pulls the rod that goes into the door. Guess sliding into the side of another car can do that. But I would think water is in ur door lock and froze.

Time to get the hair dryer out and warm up the handle.

    Re: drivers door stuck?

graham, handle is deff frozen... this happened to me the other day i felt like i was going to be holding my door handle which would be my luck but it finally broke loose... these cars allow a good amount of water to seal up at the bottom of the door sill and its a bitch in the cold. that's why i have my car locked up in the Audisport car condom :) haha

    Re: drivers door stuck?

This can happen in warmer weather too, somewhat common...the latch or something...?

Try pulling the handle up gently a few times in a row, sometimes it catches the second or third time.

    Re: drivers door stuck?

If I'm correct, some of you think the door is frozen closed, or are you talking about the handle?

You guys have no idea how annoying no driver's door handle is.

EDIT: this is grAh4m at my friends computer

bring a hair dryer out and heat it up, see what happens. Had to do it to a friends car the other day and it worked.
